Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
My washer died this week. I thought I could get it fixed and my handyman said nope time for a new one. I was so upset for the last 2 days. With 6 weeks before Christmas, a little girl's birthday and of course winter came a bit early. We have 3 young children and my husband has been off sick from work and will be for at least another year. I wasn't prepared for such a large expense at this time. I thought to myself how am I going to get a new washer and have Christmas. We went to home depot on the east end and meet a great appliance guy named Bert. He showed me a cheap washer in my price range but then showed me a better washer and explained to me how it was worth the extra money and would reduce my month water bill. Great, but I am all about saving a dollar. I said, I have to shop around and make sure I was getting a good deal, but might be back. After 3 other stores tonight we came back to Bert. I had my heart set on the more expensive model but wanted to make sure I had enough money for just the washer. He told me to apply for a HD credit card. I wasn't sure if I could, I dont have the best credit. But he said he would do what he could to help. He got on the phone talked to the credit department and 10mins later I was approved. He even asked for enough credit so I could get the whole set, i only had to pay $100. We set up delivery and all that good stuff. I thanked him probably 5 times in the store I was so excited. I just wanna let EVERYONE know how much you helped my family out tonight. After a long hard stressful year you are a real kind hearted, genuine person. I know you were just doing you job. But you were polite, knowledgeable and just an honest salesperson. THANK YOU BERT, YOU MADE CHRISTMAS HAPPEN FOR MY FAMILY! I cannot thank you enough for all of your help. BERT YOU HAVE BEEN SPOTTED! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
Me and my mom went to "The Leaf" restaurant tonight around 7/ 7:30pm(11-21-2014), and when we went to pay our bill the waitress ripped it up and said that someone had already paid our bill and that it was a" random act of kindness"!!! I actually teared up because I can't believe how thoughtful some people are..To you who did this, Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart...It's so nice to know that there are still nice people out there...
First...it wasn't a happy story. We thought the garbage man was out to get us. They would come at 6:45 am...waking our two-year old. Yes...we are blessed our children sleep till at least 8 am. So, we called and asked politely if there was any possibility that they could come later? Answer...no...okay. The next week they came at 6:15am. What? Really? It was just a question. We didn't give anyone a hard time. Then...every once in awhile our garbage wouldn't get picked. We would call but would never ask for them to pick it up. My husband was in construction and would just bring it to the dump with his left over materials.
So... we recently did some "fall cleaning"...lots of garbage. Two containers full...no lids. Definitely knew it wasn't getting picked up...and it didn't. My husband calls...and this time, he wants them to pick it. The response...we are on our own...yep. My husband loses it...they have all the incident reports in front of them. They know we have always been kind and have taken care of it. So...my husband being the awesome man he is...takes the garbage to the dump. But before he decides to do this he makes a visit to Public Works. The conversation went something like this....pick up my garbage or I will drop it off here for you...in your office. So...our garbage got picked up...until this week. Oh boy...my husband was out of town. So, I called. The lady asked me all the usual questions. Okay...they will pick it up within three business days. Okay...wasn't feeling very hopeful. I emailed public works as well with pictures...just in case we were doing something wrong. No...nothing wrong.
Now the good part...the most excellent part.
The gentlemen they sent to collect garbage knocked at my door. He apoligized and explained what he thought might be the problem. I told him I even put aside one of my bins because I wasn't sure where the lid went too. He took both bins and put them back! He had a great attitude...he was genuine and sincere. He went out of his way...a servant at heart. I didn't know his name....'cause he wasn't looking for recognition. But, I had to call and let them know what fabulous service I just received. So...now I know your name...Joe!
Thank-you Joe!!!! Wherever you are I hope you know you made my day! I appreciate your service and hope that others will follow your example! God Bless You!!!
.
My husband was in construction...he would just take it to the dump.
The last couple of weeks more frequently the lid was off...they wouldn't take it. The next week the guy broke one of the handles. Garbage cans tossed into the street.
If anyone knows who this is or if this person is reading this...Yellow Mohawk on helmet....plz contact...
My iPod was stolen just over a month ago, just one day after my birthday.I was devestaed, I used my iPod for everything. I called it in stolen , checked kijiji constantly, got nothing. I actually had my birthday dinner with my family a couple days later & for my "birthday wish" I wished somehow i will have it again. Time went by though and I accepeted the fact its gone. Then this morning I get a phone call from a man named Mike, supervisor at Windsor Transit that somebody found my iPod on a bus a couple weeks ago and turned it in! (I had sent my number to my iPod to call if found using the Find My IPod app from my computer) Not only did he have it restored now in good condition, he had his co worker drop it off to me right to my door! Hear of stories like this all the time never thought one could happen for me! Wish granted. Faith in all things and people restored. Thank you!!
Just wanted to thank the gentleman in the silver jeep at the Tim Hortons on lauzon rd this morning. I have been really sick for the last 2 weeks and this morning I decided to make my way to Timmies. You paid for my order at the drive thru. You have been spotted and I myself will do this in return. You have definitely made my day if not my week.
Just wanted to say thank you to the lady in front of me this morning at Tim Hortons for buying my bagel. I was shocked since that was the first time someone did that for me. I paid it forward and bought the car behind mine's order. Your act of kindness was appreciated.
I just wanted to spot all the wonderful customers we have at dollarama. There has been a few times where someone has been short a bit of change and the person behind footed the rest of the bill for them. I just thought this deserved to be spotted such nice kind gestures. Can't wait to see more of it :)
