Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
First...it wasn't a happy story. We thought the garbage man was out to get us. They would come at 6:45 am...waking our two-year old. Yes...we are blessed our children sleep till at least 8 am. So, we called and asked politely if there was any possibility that they could come later? Answer...no...okay. The next week they came at 6:15am. What? Really? It was just a question. We didn't give anyone a hard time. Then...every once in awhile our garbage wouldn't get picked. We would call but would never ask for them to pick it up. My husband was in construction and would just bring it to the dump with his left over materials.
So... we recently did some "fall cleaning"...lots of garbage. Two containers full...no lids. Definitely knew it wasn't getting picked up...and it didn't. My husband calls...and this time, he wants them to pick it. The response...we are on our own...yep. My husband loses it...they have all the incident reports in front of them. They know we have always been kind and have taken care of it. So...my husband being the awesome man he is...takes the garbage to the dump. But before he decides to do this he makes a visit to Public Works. The conversation went something like this....pick up my garbage or I will drop it off here for you...in your office. So...our garbage got picked up...until this week. Oh boy...my husband was out of town. So, I called. The lady asked me all the usual questions. Okay...they will pick it up within three business days. Okay...wasn't feeling very hopeful. I emailed public works as well with pictures...just in case we were doing something wrong. No...nothing wrong.
Now the good part...the most excellent part.
The gentlemen they sent to collect garbage knocked at my door. He apoligized and explained what he thought might be the problem. I told him I even put aside one of my bins because I wasn't sure where the lid went too. He took both bins and put them back! He had a great attitude...he was genuine and sincere. He went out of his way...a servant at heart. I didn't know his name....'cause he wasn't looking for recognition. But, I had to call and let them know what fabulous service I just received. So...now I know your name...Joe!
Thank-you Joe!!!! Wherever you are I hope you know you made my day! I appreciate your service and hope that others will follow your example! God Bless You!!!

The last couple of weeks more frequently the lid was off...they wouldn't take it. The next week the guy broke one of the handles. Garbage cans tossed into the street.
