Thank you, thank you! :-D

To the person who turned in the rather battered umbrella at Starbucks in Devonshire Mall earlier today (Thursday). It's had a rather lengthy life already but it has sentimental value to me and I was very dismayed to realize I'd left it behind!

Amazing Customer Service at Devonshire Fido

Today I took my Grandmother to get a bill fixed for her cellphone. There were many problems that occurred and unfortunately I had to go quite high up to get things resolved on the phone. The entire time we were nothing but catered to by Carline and (I'm sorry I didn't get your name) the manager. They both worked SO hard and went above and beyond to assist us! They really restored my faith in humanity! Thank you thank you thank you!

For Spencer

I was shopping at the East End Value Village looking for books for my six month old daughter. I came across one titled "There's a Mouse In My House". On the inside cover is written "To Alex & Spencer , Love Mommy & Daddy Oct/ 98" ... The book looked cute but it was the handwritten note taped onto the inside cover that was the deciding factor in my purchase. The note read:

This book brought me a lot of joy & memories. Sitting with my Mom in her bed, listening to her read. It was a favourite for both of us. I hope you enjoy it as much as we have. -Spencer

How incredibly sweet and how could I not buy this book for my own daughter to share with. She is a bit young for it now but in a few years I hope to share it with her & I hope that reading to her in my own bed will be as joyous of a memory for her as it was for you. Thank you for sharing your story with us!

To the person that paid for my order at the Tim Hortons yesterday morning at the now torn down racetrack...Thank you. I have had an awful week needing to repair my vehicle and replace my AC unit. Your kindness and generosity certainly put a positive spin on my day. You have been spotted

A little help on riverside. Never give up, there is always something good coming.

Tuesday at 5:40am I had trouble sleeping so I decided to go for a jog/ walk down to the river. I have had a lot of things on my mind and figured this would help me clear my head. As I slowly approached parent and riverside I noticed another runner in front of me heading the same way. I slowly approached her and noticed the back of her shirt. "Never give up, there is always something good coming." Wow, that alone made this run worth it. We continued to run along side each other after giving each other a good morning nod. I had my earphones in listening to music as did she. I would slow down and take a step back just to read her shirt again every little bit. At one point I ended up stopping so I could turn and head back home. I got her attention and said the words "thank you" she waved back and continued running. I stopped and stared at the back of her shirt until I couldn't see her anymore. I turned back and headed home. The whole time thinking how amazing it was that she was wearing a shirt with that quote and it reached me. To that early morning runner, thank you for inspiring me and making me realize, there are better days ahead. I was in the right place at the right time. Today I finally found a few shirts with quotes on the back that I ordered. Hoping maybe one day it will help me and maybe someone behind me at any point.

Phone Conversations

I may be old fashioned however I still think that there is a time and a place for manners to kick in. Tonight, while at Dollarama, standing in line , there was a woman ahead of us. She was talking on her cell phone. So loud that everyone within ear shot could hear her. There was no eavesdropping required. I will not repeat verbatim what her side of the conversation was, but I will say all she bought was some candy bars. I and others in line thought this was very rude of her. Not only did we hear her side of the conversation, but when it was her turn at the till, she continued to have her conversation with unknown party on the other end of the line. The poor cashier was so disrespected by this woman. Yes that is disrespect when you cannot even bother to end a call in order to talk to another person handling your purchases.

To my way of thinking, if said party called her, while she was in the store she could have said that she was busy and would call them back. If she made the call, there are other places she could have done that. The entire store does not want to hear your personal conversations. Just because a cell phone is portable does not mean that you need to carry on a conversation where ever you happen to be. People do it in the banks, at the doctors, where ever they happen to be. I am grateful that the conversation was not about sex, and yes I have heard one sided conversations about that in public. If you do not want the entire world to know what you are talking about, who you are talking about, or what activities you are planning or not, don't hold a private conversation in public. That is what your home is for!
