Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
We had a fire alarm in my building tonight because some idiot decided to pull one. Previously we've had other instances of this, and some malfunctions of the system (that's what they told us, but now I'm thinking maybe they just didn't want to tell us some idiot was pulling them).
So tonight at past 2am I get down there to find out if it's for real or not so my dad maybe doesn't have to get up (he's 79 but in great shape), and so maybe, just maybe, the 90 year old woman across the hall from us doesn't.
I was complaining, I don't mind saying. I said with a small crowd of people around "This is ridiculous. It's two times a month now" and she opens her big yap and says "If you don't like it why don't you leave?"
I thought maybe she worked for the building, so I asked "And who do you work for?"
She pulls her finger across the logo on her jacket like it's supposed to mean something and says "GARDA".
I said "Oh, in this building?"
She said "No".
I said "Ehhh... I think I'll keep complaining".
Apparently she thinks working for a security company imbues one with all sorts of authority, because she became quite agitated and when I came back in after popping outside she turned her back so as to avoid me.
I felt like asking her to sign the petition that all security personnel have at least a room temperature IQ. I mean, if I really want to offend her, that would do it.
Miss Have a Problem, you've been spotted.
The city of windsor kills me. Tonight (with many other nights) I have seen plow truck drivers with the blade down sparking, supposedly cleaning already clean roads, (and don't tell me they were cleaning up the curb area bc I know they were already done as I drove passed 30 mins prior and noticed they were clean) and to my knowledge getting paid for blade down time. Jefferson avenue has been clear for hours already! Why are you doing it AGAIN when side roads are atrocious. It isn't a bus route, it isn't covered in ice or snow?? Here is the kicker....when he got to tecumseh road...HE BLEW A RED LIGHT! So Mr.Coco driver, 6244 Schmidt truck...I figured I'd let you know not only am I calling to complain but my husband video taped you blowing a CLEARLY RED LIGHT.
All right who did it????
Which one of you ticked off Mother Nature????
Someone here in Windsor has OFFENDED her and now she's punishing the rest of us with an endless winter.
Now I believe I speak on behalf of most of my fellow Windsorites when I ask that whoever the guilty party is that you immediately find some way to atone for your actions and make her happy again so we all can experience spring.
And we would really appreciate it if you did it sooner rather than later.
WHO. EVER. YOU. ARE. FIX. IT. NOW!!!!!
Thank you for your attention.
It is beyond my understanding how or why anyone would attempt to drive a vehicle that is not properly cleaned off. Cleaning off a little peep through spot on your windshield and on your back window is soooooo not safe - BLIND SPOTS! Then there are those who don't take the time to clean off their headlights or taillights. How are other drivers supposed to see you when its snowing or whiteout conditions? ACCIDENTS waiting to happen! Please not just for your own safety, but for other drivers out on the roadways, CLEAN OFF YOUR VEHICLES PLEASE! It is the law! Also, just as a side note, especially to new drivers on the roads, DO NOT engage cruise control when the roadways are wet, even if its just a light misting of rain, you can lose control of your vehicle very quickly.
I'd just like to "spot" the cashier from Metro on Central on Tuesday night. My boyfriend and I stopped in to get a couple things and as she was cashing us out she told me I had the cutest dimples. I know it's just a small compliment but I just couldn't stop smiling all the way home. Thanks for making my day :)
Driving home from work today on Manning Road a transport truck driver was standing outside his truck which had slightly slid off the road. People were stopping and attempting to help get him out. It made me smile knowing amid this ridiculous weather there are still kind people out there who are willing to get a little cold and dirty or be late to wherever they're heading to help someone get home to their family. As a daughter of a transport truck driver I can only hope that someone would extend this courtesy to my father if he were in this position! Way to go everyone!
I want to thank the Comtois family for shoveling the whole block everytime it snows this family comes out and make sure the whole entire block is done so that the elderly and people who can't do it are safe to come out of the driveway and to go into their houses just wanted to make sure that you guys were recognized for you're Good Samaritan
From the neighbor who can't shovel herself. Thanks again
Dear neighbour with the only driveway on the block - each snowfall this winter I have seen you come out of your house and park your car on the road. Not only does this make it hard for those of us who don't have the luxury of a driveway to park but it actually goes against what the city needs for plowing, as they ask for cars to be off the road as much as possible. We have a lot of elderly people and young families and to watch people walk almost a block because you have parked one and a half car lengths on the street breaks my heart - especially in this weather. Please be mindful of that. P.S: your neighbour who walks down the block shovels your sidewalk each snowfall without a mention.
