Helpful tellers made a bad day easier

After realizing my purse (with all 3 of my kids health cards, my drivers license, debit card) was missing out of my car I panicked. As if it wasn't bad enough it was gone, I was pretty sure my roommate stole it. Even my 11 year old (who I had to bring tot he clinic but had no health card for! ugh) realizes it's silly that we don't feel safe in our own home....Anyway, in a frenzy I gathered everything I had left (b.c's, proof of address) and I ran to Service Ontario (east end), where the nicest lady with the initials L.M got me all the paper work I needed and made sure I left with everything I needed. I then had to run to BMO on Lauzon where another amazing lady helped me sort everything out. After I thanked both of these ladies for making a stressful situation that much easier they both said to me "I am glad I could help but who is going to help you deal with that roommate?". I appreciated both of their concerns. And more than anything I appreciated their warm smiles and awesome help. Like I said, made something so super stressful that much easier. THANK YOU ladies!

I stood up for myself and it was the best feeling ever

I am 38 year old single mother of 2 and my whole life I feel like I am taken advantage of or bullied. I am a quiet woman and try to mind my own business as much as I can. I was driving through the Costco parking lot yesterday trying to find a spot. This lady walking to her car waved at me and said she was 3 cars from the end to follow her, so I did. As I waited for her to load her vehicle I smiled as she looked back with my signal on. I looked around and there was no other car waiting. She pulled out and passed me waving goodbye and I waved back. As she passed me I looked ahead to pull up into the spot I had been waiting for when a car came into the spot from the other side quickly and pulled in. I was frustrated to say the least but figured maybe they didn't notice me parked there waiting for the spot and maybe thought I was just driving through. Any other day I would have continued driving around and not said a word, but today was different. My son (15) was with me and I didn't want him to feel he shouldn't stand up for yourself. So I pulled up and calmly stated to the young man that I was waiting for that spot every since the previous person walked to the vehicle. He looked at me and quickly said he was sorry and he would gladly move. I was shocked but I thanked him, he quickly got into his truck and moved. We parked and headed into Costco, this is where it got interesting. We walked around and did some shopping and went to cash out. As we were walking out my son had noticed the same young man standing next to where my jeep was parked. This man looked to be maybe 26 I wasn't scared just nervous. As we walked up he looked at me and said I am only doing this to make sure you realize it was truly a mistake when I parked in your spot. He handed me a 2 pack of Cineplex tickets he had purchased from Costco for me and my son. I said he really didn't need to as I was just glad you were so willing to move right after without making a bid deal. He looked at my son and said "your mom is a tough lady, will you take these for you and her." my son laughed and said yes I will thank you. Such a amazing young man where an incident like this sometimes turns ugly, this one ended beautifully. So that man I say Thank you for letting me stand my ground and helping me teach my son to stand up for himself, even though I usually do not.

Great Job on behalf of Parents and grandparents!

To the manager and staff of Lakeshore Cinema. Wanted to say it was a great gesture to have the offer of $3.00 movies during the March break. Its so hard for many families to be able to afford a movie outing these days. With the admission price and then the food it adds up very quickly. Of course to the grandparents on a fixed income it was great. So just want to say a big thanks to you all on behalf of us happy kids who all got to go with our parents and grandparents! A high five to you! Thanks Marlene

Rainy Day Angel

I want to thank the woman who was my teller today at the TD Canada Trust downtown location. I lost my mother to lung cancer over three years ago now and I had received a cheque from her estate. I wanted to cash the cheque so that it was in safe keeping; it wasn't about getting the money as soon as possible. Obviously they had to ask where the cheque had come from and why, and once I had told them the young lady was just amazing. It is nice to see that some people out there can look at a person, who is around the same age as them, and still be able to have empathy. You don't see this very much any more especially within a customer service industry. At the end of everything, after trying to get the money into my account as soon as they could, she looked at me and said " I am going to come around the counter and hug you." I am a friendly person but this was a little on the weird side. She looked at me and said " Over the counter hug!", and extended her arms. I walked out of there with tears in my eyes because you have the same spunk and kindness that my mother once had! Thank you very much for making my day, and taking a dreadful experience into a great one! And a big shout out to the whole team down there, you are all fantastic at what you do and I could never bank anywhere else!

Lovely and generous person today at Quesada

Went to Quesada on Walker for the first time today, ordered a bean and veggie burrito. Got up to the cash and realized that I had forgotten my wallet on my desk at work and said so aloud. A lovely woman waiting to place her order immediately offered to pay for mine. I went from feeling like a (hungry) schmuck to being overwhelmed with gratitude. Thank you so much, you made my day!

I will "pay this forward", and hope that acts of kindness such as this continue to be contagious.

PS - the burrito was really good

I wanted to spot the staff at Wendy's on Ouellette and Ellis near Queen Victoria school. Wendy's is closing and I wanted to tell the staff thank you and you will be missed. One person in particular has gone above and beyond with the children from the school. Sometimes when a child didn't have enough to pay for their meal she made sure they got their meal. My own daughter has been short a few times and she came home telling me the kindness of that employee. She always looked out for the children and I hope that they open a Tim Horton's or some other restaurant in that spot. She got a bit choked up when I was talking with her about the closure. You can really see how much she cares.
Thank you again for caring.

So Thankful

Today my son and his friends went to the cineplex at Devonshire mall to see Home. While waiting for the movie my son somehow must have dropped his IPod touch ( which he wasn't supposed to have with him) After asking the people at the desk and then retracing our steps through the mall. We had given up hope of ever seeing it again. After the movie we went home and I thought I would call and ask again if anyone had turned it in. To my surprise someone had!
I just wanted to take this time to send out a big Thank You to the person who returned my son's IPod. You made my nine year old very happy and restored my faith in humanity!
