Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
I was helped out of the snow twice today. First to get my car out of the snow by a kind neighbour. I had both my 7 year old and my 6 month old in the car. And he went out od his way to dig us out. We also have a kind neighbour who has cleared everyone's sidewalks in the neighborhood with their snow blower. and when trying to push my heavy groceries through the snow A kind woman helped pull my cart to my car. The city is full of snow angels . Thank you all!
Just wanted to send in this picture of my son and his friend playing in the snow drift at St Bernard school.

On Super Bowl Sunday at 3:45 p.m. I was driving westbound on Riverside Dr. E. at Gladstone. This was during the snow storm and there was only one lane clear enough to travel in. There were 3 cars in front of me and 1 behind me. A Canadian Checker taxi (#88 I think) was driving westbound totally in the eastbound lane of traffic. He was trying to pass the line of cars but as he sped up he would fishtail. This went on for a couple of blocks before he had to get over due to 2 cars coming eastbound. I finally backed off and let him in to avoid a collision. As soon as the cars passed he went back into the eastbound lane of traffic. He pulled back into the proper lane just before Aylmer Ave. where he went thru a fresh red light. He turned south onto Glengarry and that was the last I saw of him. I have no idea what his hurry was but he was driving in a very dangerous manner during a bad snow storm.
early Tuesday morning, about 4:30 am I had let the dogs out and while I waited for them, watched the tractor going up and down my street, being as careful as he could not to dump snow on already-shoveled sidewalks and driveways. Seeing other cans out, I remembered I also needed to bring out my bin so I grabbed the can, dragged it outside and to the curb. and stood there for a few minutes looking pretty stupid while I held the garbage, and froze, and attempted to find a place on the mountain where it wouldn't risk toppling over and into traffic. seeing my plight, the tractor backed up and cut me out a niche so I could place my bin :) I waved my thanks and went back inside. then I thought it would be nice if I were a coffee drinker, then I could have made him a coffee. so grabbing the next best thing I headed back outside and down the street and handed him a soda :) I came out this morning to find that the end of my driveway had also been flattened out.
so to the rockstar snow plow guy, thank u :) Ur consideration was very much appreciated and ur long hours worked at all hours of the night have not gone unnoticed.
sincerely,
the stupid girl with the garbage can, the sprite and the lack of sense that would have told her to put on a coat before she went outside :)
How could you run a business taking a teens money like that. A 16 year old girl standing in a line to get her monthly bus pass, dressed in her school uniform and book bag. After she explains she lost her student card but has a note from the school explaining she is a student you still deny her a student pass and charge her and adult rate. You should be ashamed of yourselves for taking advantage of the youth. Honestly how many kids would put on a uniform and carry a book bag to pretend to be in school for a cheaper buss pass. This must be part of the reason why we are listed as worst transit system in Canada.
I thought I would do a good deed and buy my parents coffee, so I went to Tim Horton's on Ottawa and Kildare and went through the drive thru and when I got to the window they said I didn't have to pay that it was on Mark. I think Mark is the manager but I thought it was amazing that he paid for peoples orders today. It was a wonderful deed and I'm thankful.
This morning on the 1200 block of Marentette I found a samsung galaxy 3. If this is your please email!
I would like to say a Huge thank you to the gentleman who helped me at 8:15am get my Journey out of the snow in South Windsor today....My street was not plowed and i also have a median in front of my house...At the end of the median there is extra snow that no car touches and makes a v shape..I must drive over this huge lump of snow where i got stuck...I thought i would shovel out but this gentleman, was driving up behind me and felt bad that i blocked him..He got out and decided to push me ...Just then a small school bus also gets stuck right beside me coming into our street.. So the bus driver needed help too.. Both man got me on my way...I hoped they heard the thank you as i had to keep going...Reached the corner where I had another little obstacle ,but made it through ...I always driven a minivan and never seemed to get struck...First winter with my Journey, I think i just need better tires....Also a thank you to my neighboor Rick( who lives behind me) for letting me park my car in his driveway because i knew i would never make it down my street ....
