Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
Today on November 21 , I went shopping at the freshco on 300 Tecumseh after finishing my shopping I had called a cab and it arrived. I then had to load everything in my self as the cab driver did not help I had a very large cart consisting of cases and juice boxes. I then hoped in the cab and stated my address he turned the meter on then he decided to do a complete circle around the parking lot and go a different way I had asked he didn't like that I had asked to go out the mcdougal side instead of Tecumseh , he then Rudley refused to drive me and stoped me back in front of freshco where again I then had to unload everything I just had loaded myself, yet again myself . When a polite man and his locket grand mother walked up and asked if I could use a ride I was in tears grateful after all that , he helped me load the groceries in his vehicle and even unload them. I offered money as a thank you and they both refused and said they were happy to help and been in similar situation. I can't stress how much that there are still amazing people out there to just lend the helping hand you need at the time you never expect. Matt and grandma Helen you two have been spotted and are the most generous set of souls , you two are wonderful and I'm so thankful to you both , with warm hearts and the best wishes in life you two deserve it !
Today on my normal morning commute to the U. I was on Curry ave (I stay away from main streets to not get in the way of cars). I had a van pass me with 10 inches to spare on curry ave, he made a left eventually on GrandMaris. I had never been scared for my life before like when this guy passed me. At that point I started peddling hard and caught up with him on the light. I approached his window and asked him "I would appreciate it if you would give me space next time you pass me", he proceeded with "well you shouldn't be riding on the road, you should be on the side walk". The incident was reported to Windsor Police. Stay away from this lunatic, it is a grey (I think) Dodge minivan or grand caravan, not sure.
Our dog woke us up and I looked out the window and watched my new bike riding away. When will this end? this entitlement and desire to just take from people? When will you wake up and realize that you are violating people Who worked their entire lives to pay for the things they have.
I just retired from 35 years in the Canadian Forces. I was just starting to get back into cycling. It is something I have loved my whole life and now you've taken my hard earned reward and for what? to make $50 so you can buy drugs or cigarettes? There has to be a better way. Do me a favour and don't thank a soldier next time you see one in uniform, just hang your head and keep walking (riding) by because you just negated your appreciation for your freedom and violated the very person who protected you and your family. Be a man and return my bike, shame on you.
I have lost my puppy and I think she has been taken. She has been missing for a week. Last seen on university campus she is 2ft tall 52 lbs black/ brown she has stiches as she was just fixed. If you see her please catch her or call me and let me know so I can come get her 519-915-9037 her name is Frankie
I would like to thank the good samaritans that took a moment from delivering their papers near Drouillard rd, a gentlemen and his wife. They saw my adult daughter that was visibly upset as she had accidentally locked herself out of her home at approx 4 a.m.after stepping out onto her porch, and was cold and frightened. These kind people drove her to my home and to where she would be safe. It is heartwarmming to know that charitable, kind spirited people still exist!♡
My son found a boxing glove outside of Tecumseh Mall by the bike racks a couple days ago. If this is your boxing glove please describe it and if it's yours you are welcome to come and pick it up.
I was at FreshCo on Wyandotte and Lauzon a few hours ago and twice my card was declined, I was just going to tell the cashier to forget it when the lady next in line said she would pay for my groceries, and it made me tear up for that to happen. I told her I would pay it forward and she said merry Christmas, So, to the lady at the FreshCo around 6:15, if you are reading this, THANKS AGAIN from the bottom of my heart!
On Wednesday my brothers and I were in a car accident and it was incredibly scary and we were shook up and hurt some. It wound up involving 3 vehicles and did a good job of blocking traffic for awhile, but everyone involved, including the ones whose vehicles were very damaged were kind and only concerned with those who were actually in their vehicles. The owner of the parked car who was hit came out, not yelling about her car, rather offering coats, comfort and coffee. Another neighbour came out to help direct traffic while we waited for the police. It's not an experience I care to repeat, but all involved were extremely supportive and caring and I wonder if you know how much your spirit in that moment helped calm me that night? Thank you for your care and concern about people above property.
