Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
Spotted : Just would like to say a great big Thank You to the gentlman who tried to get my car unstuck this morning on Langlois Ave. We where not able to get it out, just as I was going in the house a neighbour offered help. My neighbour was so determined to get my car moving, despite no gloves and the cold we succeeded. . To my son's godfather for snow ploughing my sidewalk off and on. I have awesome neighbours and Windor has awesome strangers willing to help people.
City of Windsor, you have been SPOTTED!!!!!!!!
Today around 4pm I was getting off of the Ottawa 4 bus in front of the Money Mart on Ouellette and Wyandotte. I couldn't get off at the back of the bus because the snow was higher than my knees (not shoveled), so I proceeded to go to the front. A 75-80 year old man who had canes attached to both arms was trying to get on the bus and slipped on the pile snow that also was not shoveled and had turned into ice. He fell on his side on the edge of the step on the bus. A wonderful man and myself tried for 5 minutes to get him up but because of the ice, he kept slipping. The helpful gentleman then wrapped his arms around him and used all of his body weight and was finally successful at getting him up. I called 311 and filed a complaint! I hope that elderly man is ok and I am so grateful to the gentleman who finally got him up. The city better believe that I will be following up on my complaint to make sure this is taken care of!
I helped a young man push his car from the snow last night approx.11pm. I ran to my parents house at the corner nearby to grab a shovel to dig him out.
Spotted : Today when I stopped at my parents before work, my mom handed me a Tim's card that a nice young man dropped off to give to the man that helped push his car out.
I was just helping out on a cold night, I didn't expect anything but I appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Gerry (I'm all warmed up now)
Spotted : A big thank-you to the lady who came out of her house on North Side Road, McGregor this morning with a couple of shovels to help us get out of a huge snow drift which we managed to get stuck in! Also a huge thank-you to the young man with the 4 wheel drive who pulled us out with a chain. It was -25 and very windy...We won't be taking this road again until the snow is gone...lesson learned!!
Spotted : the guys picking up the recycling today in Windsor Thank-you for your hard work. Sorry you had to climb over some peoples piles of snow. Glad our area was clear for you. Hope everyone else will try to keep an area clear for you too.
Spotted : I feel terrible for the people riding our bus system. I travelled south on Ouellette and into South Windsor.
At most of the stops along Ouellette onto Dougall there is no access from the sidewalks to the bus. Just mounds of snow. I saw more than once people catching the bus standing in the roadway.
At the bus stop on Dougall in front of Walmart going south an older gentleman got off the bus with his cane and walk along the road until he could get a cleaned area to the side walk.
I know that there is a bylaw in place that we all have to clean the sidewalks in front of our property but shouldn't the City be cleaning a safe opening in the snow so people can get from the sidewalk to the bus?
Signed....disgusted.
Spotted : To the red vehicle who hit my silver car on Enfield place and left on New Years. Thanks for hitting my car. I'm a broke student and cannot afford a new car door. Happy New Years
Spotted : To the women that stopped this morning on Wellesley because she saw I was stuck in the snow, thank you for taking time out of your morning to stop and help someone in need even when you did not have a winter jacket on yourself. Your help did not go unnoticed, and you made my day by showing me ther eare still nice people out there :)
