Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!!
My father is a Captain for the Windsor Goodfellows (see below for details on the non-profit organization).
He is looking for volunteers to hawk the Windsor Star Special Oldnewsboys Edition in order to raise funds for this great cause. He is desperately short on volunteers and covers Devonshire Mall / Roundhouse Centre / Walker Road.
Any amount of time you can offer, preferably in four hour blocks (or longer) if possible... But again, any amount of time would be appreciated.
The drive is on...
THURS NOV 26: 8:30 am - 9:00 pm
FRI NOV 27: 8:30 am - 9:00 pm
SAT NOV 28: 8:30 am - approximately 4:00 pm (possibly earlier)
Also, if you would like to bring some friends or family members that would be fantastic. Keep in mind for the high school student in your life, this time counts towards their community hours (just make sure they bring their papers to be signed!).
And as an incentive, homemade chilli will be provided to warm you up! 😊
If you are interested or know someone who might be - feel free to contact my Dad directly or pass his info along. I can also be a liaison too .

What is the Windsor Goodfellows?
We are a non-profit organization that has been servicing Windsor / Essex County for 105 years. We are a tight-knit family of volunteers from all walks of life who come together for a great cause to help the disadvantaged of our community. We love our community and care for all who call this wonderful place home.
How does Goodfellows help?
When people think of the Windsor Goodfellows, they immediately think of Christmas. Although we do offer help by providing families with a box of food and a certificate to purchase perishable food items to celebrate the holidays without the worry of being hungry, we also offer a vast array of programs to lift the disadvantaged of our community throughout the entire year. We don't offer a hand-out but a hand-up!
This hand-up is done by providing a Year-Round Food Bank because hunger doesn't need a special occasion to be present. It is also done by providing a Breakfast / Snack Program that is served to approximately 1200 children daily at 9 local area schools. Each child in our community deserves to be fed prior to taking on the arduous task of learning. If a child's stomach is growling, they cannot focus on the task at hand how could they? It is done by providing a Children's Footwear Program where children in need from JK to Grade 8 can receive new shoes and / or boots. There isn't a sadder sight then seeing a small child trek through the snow with only a beat-up pair of runners on their feet. Each child in our community deserves to be comfortable and warm. It is done by providing a child with a teddy bear to snuggle or a book to read. Although we don't have a formal toy program, we receive many toy and book donations throughout the year that we hand out to our clients when their Christmas food box is distributed. We give until we have nothing left.
