Good hearted customers, after an embarrassing moment with a customer. #amazingpeople

Had an awful day at work the other night where I got blasted out by a woman who got a poorly made drink from the bar, but otherwise had great service from myself for the entire six hours she was at my place of work. She embarrassed me in front of about twenty people, swearing at me telling me I was "the worst effing server she had ever seen" and that she "wasn't joking" and I need to quit right away because I'm awful at what I do. That I should "go home and re-evalutate my life." She also told me I wasn't good looking enough to be a server and that my looks aren't going to redeem my poor service. I literally was having fun with them all night, laughing with them about their ugly Christmas sweaters, and they even praised the martinis and food they received. Whatever her intentions were, she ruined an otherwise good night at work and didn't tip me off a $400 bill because of one watery drink she got from the bar that I didn't even make. Regardless, the embarrassment from what had just happened made me cry, especially the personal insults and the fact that nobody stood up for me.

Now for the good part! A table of three next to them called me over a few minutes later to give me a hug and words of encouragement, which was greatly appreciated. We had a little chat about not taking it personally because she was wasted (I don't take it personally, but it was embarrassing regardless), and they told me I was a good person and not to listen to her. That was more than enough, for them to go out of their way to make me feel better, but they went above and beyond and ended up giving me $60 for what had just happened. I am extremely appreciative of this random act of kindness by people who had nothing to do with the bad situation that had just happened, who had NO obligation to do anything for me, yet did it anyway. I was a complete stranger to them. I didn't even serve their table.

I will definitely have to pay it forward. After seeing how nasty people can be, this showed me that people can still be so kind for nothing in return.
