To those people out there shopping for the perfect Christmas gift....a puppy

To the many people out there who are thinking that a puppy for Christmas will be the perfect gift, please stop to reconsider. Puppies are a wonderful addition on Christmas morning, however puppies grow very quickly into dogs long after December 25th. Puppies require your time, dedication and loyalty to ensure that they have the chance to grow into a well-behaved member of your family. Puppies are not meant to be disposable come February/ March when the novelty has worn off & you decide that you have had enough. If you have given the issue a lot of thought and a puppy is right for your family at this time, I wish you many years of happiness with your four legged family member, however if getting a puppy is a spontaneous decision, please stop and reconsider a smaller pet that does not require as much work. The humane society has many smaller animals, such as birds, bunnies, cats & even lizards that are looking for a forever home.
