Remember to Lock Your Car

I just wanted to remind everyone at this time of year, in particular, to lock your car doors. It's just 9:30 p.m. and my husband caught two kids going up and down our block trying car door handles. It would be a shame for anyone to lose anything of value to a couple of kids who have a complete disregard for property.

Gift Card Scam

I wanted to share an experience I had that could happen to many others this holiday season. I purchased a Cineplex gift card from shoppers drug mart on Saturday afternoon, I placed it in my wallet and did not remove it until Sunday when I took my son to see the new chipmunks movie. When I went to pay the teller at the theatre told me my gift card had a $0 balance on it. Thinking that maybe the cashier at shoppers forgot to activate it I brought the gift card back today. The very kind manager explained that I was about the 15th person just at their location to have the same problem that the card was activated but someone stole the funds. Apparently thieves are taking the cards and writing down or taking pictures of the codes on the back, then they return the cards to the display racks and wait for someone to purchase them and activate them, they then spend the balance online leaving your card useless. The manager said they will be removing all gift cards from the display areas and if I buy a gift card from any other stores always ask for one from behind the counter NEVER take one from the display racks. They did replace my card but I can imagine how frustrating this is for them. Please be vigilant when purchasing and gifting prepaid cards this season, always ask for one from behind the counter and check your balance on ones you have! Just wanted to share this as I was. It aware until today! Happy Holidays!!

Holiday Road Rage

My sister was harrassed by a driver on Bliss going Northbound around 6:45pm Saturday December 19th and he ended up causing damage to her Charger. The driver tried to speed past her at a stop sign and hit her car. He did not stop. She didn't get a good look at the driver but says he was white and in his late 30s to early 40s. We were able to identify he was driving a gold Oldsmobile with debris left behind. The damage will be on the passenger side. If you have any information or witnessed the accident please contact the Windsor Police.

Warning

Last night my husband and I were leaving Silver City and decided to take Concession Rd 7 from Walker Road to #42 to go home. Just past Windsor Christian Fellowship, the PT Cruiser in front of us started to go up the little hump and suddenly stopped at the top and put their car in reverse. Then we heard a train's horn sound. The PT backed up and so did we.
There was absolutely no warning that a train was coming other than the horn seconds from it's crossing. This crossing bears no lights and no arms to prevent an accident from happening. Just a stick with an "x" on either side. One tiny distraction (we were discussing the movie we had just seen) and lives would be changed forever.
I will never take this route again and I urge others to steer clear as well. I can't believe that a road so close to a huge retail area where hundreds of people drive had no lights and no arms to warn of a passing train. This is reckless disregard for public safety in my opinion.

Extremely rude.

Today, my sons and I went to see Santa at a popular mall. After seeing Santa, we went for lunch at a sandwich making place.

My sons are aged 5 and 2. A man arrived beside us in line and first basically almost shoved my 5 year ol over. I told my son it was "ok" he probably didn't see you.
The man continued to be EXTREMELY rude and demeaning to the sandwich artist... For no apparent reason. I had finally had enough, and asked the man "please stop being rude, especially in front of my children"
You sir, telling me to "F off" was even more delightful. Again, in front of a 5 year old and 2 year old.

So, afterwards I took it upon myself to make sure each one of the workers were told they were doing a fantastic job and keep up the good work and happy holidays. Something you seemed to grimace at, considering I was holding you up at the checkout.

So remember to always be kind and thank you for letting me show my children to always be kind, no matter the mean people beside you.

Accident on manning December 18

To the couple that took control of the traffic on manning last night, you did a great job! And to the people involved in that accident, I hope you are all ok! To the beautiful lady "Mimi" I hope you heal! Your boyfriend/ husband would not leave your side, and I hope he is ok as well. I think it was a bmw you were in. And to the scum that caused this accident and ran, I hope you are caught! You left all these injured people alone! Your yellow truck was still running and you were no where to be found. I'm sure one beautiful lady will have to spend her Christmas in the hospital.

In a hurry?

To the woman in the black cadalliac suv at matchette and reaume at 2:50 pm Friday. You were at the 4 way stop behind the school bus you were clearly impatient as I was not only at the stop sign before you but when I allowed the children to cross the street you flew through the intersection startling the children. If you are in such a hurry to get ahead of me fine, but don't put children's life in danger because you have something to do

Dog running wild

We live in the Lloyd George/ Queen Elizabeth area. There are quite a few stray cats in our area...including kittens. A few of the neighbours...including us, help out these poor strays by feeding them. Some of these cats have been in this neighbourhood for years. They have names...and are quite friendly. About a month ago, we started seeing this husky dog in our neighbourhood. The dog is tagged and collared. Then we started to notice cats were missing....including two kittens. The mother cat has been frantic looking for them. Imagine my husbands horror to pull up in our driveway and see the dog on our front lawn...with a mauled dead kitten...her name was Ginger. So, whoever owns this dog I just want to let you know what your dog has been up to. My husband and I were very tramatized by this....we buried her in our backyard. We don't blame the dog....we blame the owner. Please do not let your dog run wild.
