No Car Seats?

After work today I stopped by Food Basics downtown. As I was heading to my car, I saw a man loading groceries in the back of his work van. He had a toddler in the cart, and another child about 4 or 5 in the front passenger seat of the van. I looked in the van and saw there were only two seats and then a cage separating the front seats from the back of the van. There were No other seats in the van. I sat and watched as he put the toddler in the front of the van, standing in between the seats. Then he closed up the back doors got in and drove away. What were you thinking. I understand that may be your only way to get your groceries, using that business van, and I bet you do that quite regularly as those two children looked quite used to travelling that way in that van. I called the police and reported you, and provided the licence number, a full description of the van, you and your two children. I will also be contacting that business advertised on that van and lodging a complaint against you.
Please people, only bring children along with you if you have the proper and safe car seats. Children are wayyyyyyyyy to precious to take such chances. If you were involved in a collision, what do you think would happen to those babies??????? Chance your own life if you must, but dont chance someone elses, let alone your trusting and loving children. They depend on you to keep them safe....I didnt approach the man as I was alone and unsure of his reaction towards me. If I was a younger person I most certainly would have approached him.

Vandalism

I am writing to find out if anyone has any information on an incident that happened at Windsor Croatian Centre on Oct 27 around 3:30 pm. Both of our halls were filled with people, either voting or attending an event, when a young gentleman came in with a bleeding hand. He walked in and asked the staff to help him out. Everyone, including voting officials, was trying to help this young gentleman. As soon as he was given proper care by one of our staff members and got cleaned up, he left. It was only after he took off that someone noticed our broken window and the staff found a rock right next to it. As you can see from the picture, it looks like someone broke it on purpose. Sadly, the person who got the care of everyone in the building is most likely responsible for this act. This has been reported to the police and we ask that everyone with any information about this incident contact us or the police. Thank you kindly :)

dirt bikes in ganatchio

I was at ganatchio the other day and was almost run over walking down a trail by an individual riding a dirt bike. Luckily I moved in time. There was a lot of families with young children and I can only imagine what could happen. I understand you love your dirtbikes but they don't belong in the park...

Thieves!

I cannot believe the amount of people who have the audacity to use a shopping cart to haul their purchases home. Blocks and blocks away, shopping carts are spotted, no where near the stores that OWN them. This is STEALING, plain and simple. The cart does not belong to you and you took it; doubtful that you will return it, and even if you do, it's still theft. I cannot walk into a store and take a stroller, use it to walk my kid home and then bring it back, I would be arrested for shoplifting. Same concept....how on earth do people justify stealing the carts? If you need a cart because you don't have a vehicle or cannot carry your purchases home, then buy one. Can't afford one? Sorry, you still can't just steal one, just as I can't steal a car because I can't afford it. And the response, "Well, I am not going to keep it", doesn't make it right either, because a car or bicycle thief could say the same; "I just needed a ride".
I used to work for an apartment building and there was a room in the parking structure that had probably 150 carts from various store that people had helped themselves to; at $300 per cart, that's $45,000! Think about it!

Litter Bug!

On Friday, October 24 while driving up Lauzon towards the river, I happened to be driving behind an impatient driver. They swerved into the turning lane to pass someone turning right (for all the time that saved them) only to be stopped by the traffic light at Lauzon and Riverside (hah!)

While waiting for the light, I noticed something fly out the driver's side window onto the ground. Then another, then another! They peeled an orange and just threw the peel into the intersection and then turned west-bound onto Riverside and proceeded to continue to throw their garbage into the road. All was for naught though, as they couldn't properly enjoy their snack - they tossed the peeled orange out of the vehicle into someone's yard.

It's a shame that people feel that the world is their personal garbage bin. Yes, these items will decompose, however they still need to be cleaned up, and they still show an almost contemptuous disregard for one's environment. They should have kept it in the car - the nice citrus smell would definitely have offset the smell of the pig in the driver's seat.

Receptionist at clinic

To the receptionist at the clinic in rexal on huron line and totten. You have been spotted.
You are the most unhappy, unfriendly person in a customer service job I've ever encountered. Every single time I walk in (i love the dr there and its close to home). Before I say anything you look at me and say "It's going to be more than an hr wait, you should go somewhere else."
Its not the fact she says this, its they tone she used. and its never been close to that long of a wait. I walked in once with my finger all messed up from work (a few doors day) and she yelled it at me once again. Told me to find another clinic, they don't deal with work injuries.
Once more I went there just to check on a status of a referral the dr was doing and she yelled it once I walked in the door. I said "Thats great, if thats what I wanted, i just need to check this"
She was super rude and didn't want to share the info, told me to go call the dr we were supposed to be referred too. (and ended up haven't been yet! because she never sent the fax!)

I don't understand why you work in a dr's office if you hate people! its mind blowing. Every other clinic has the decency to be cordial, why can't you? If I didn't like the dr so much, I would never go back. i wonder if he knowws how you act?

Half a Second.

After having a fun filled morning with my two young sons, we were singing as we drove home. We went and made lego, we painted pumpkins. One is two and the world is his oyster, such a great many years ahead of him. My four year old, adventurous and full of questions. His eyes amazed at the world. I decided to cut across the city using Lauzon parkway. Still singing, we stopped as the light ahead turned red. Traffic the opposing way, went. It was beautiful this fall afternoon. Our light turned green, and I glanced, half a second into my mirror, as we clearly had the right of way. I don't know what was so important in your black four door car. Some funny lol text message, or maybe that makeup you needed to do, or you just had to have that conversation with your girlfriend. I am not sure. As you clearly blew through a confirmed red light. I am not sure, man or woman driving. What was so important to you. Yet that half a second in your life of not taking the time nor care to stop, would have made a huge difference in mine. You would have hit us on the drivers side, hard enough to potentially injure, or kill, a wide eyed four year old boy. Chances are, you would have changed the life of the two year old too. You may have even killed me, to them I am their whole world. I warn you, as I am not ready to pick out casket colours or spend hours in hospital watching them fight for their lives. They will fight, my boys are fighters. All it takes, is half a second, maybe less, to let some poor decision on your part, devastate someone else's life. I assure you.
Thank you though, because the half a second I took to look in my rear view mirror and smile at their fits of giggles from my backseat may have saved their lives from you. So enjoy this fall afternoon, and be aware of your choices.
