Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
To the nice guy at Timmy's - you have been spotted. Thank you for stopping when you saw me fall. My young daughter and I appreciate you taking the time.
Words can not even describe how very thankful I am to the dental staff at street health. I have been in debilitating agonizing pain since last july with my teeth..I dont make enough money to fix them nor have any benefits yet make too much for ASSistance to help me at all. These people volunteer their time to help the people of this city and I think they need to be recognized for this! Not only do they volunteer but their personalities are wonderful they actually care about people! It is so sad that our government basically offers no help to adults with dental issues, I pay taxes off every cheque. .for what exactly besides the politicians getting richer and hardworking people like me fall further behind and have no where to turn for help!! Discusting!!
Again thank you girls from the bottom of my heart for being there and improving the quality of my life, I hope your good karma finds you tenfold!!!
Today at Devonshire mall, The automatic doors weren't working at the front. A young man held the door open for me and my friend who uses a wheelchair. Not only was he nice for holding the door open, but you wished us a great day aswell. Thanks for your kindness.
Last summer I spotted a man masturbating at Lansbury Park (Pierre & Ottawa) while watching the children play. I called the cops but they didn't catch him. About a month later I saw him masturbating again (in the exact same spot). Called the cops but, again, they didn't respond in time to catch him. Fast forward to yesterday, and I saw him walking down Ottawa Street when I was out with my kids. I called the cops, but unfortunately there is nothing they can do unless I catch him in the act again (or so they say). The reason I am posting is to ask you to pay attention when your kids are playing at the park. This guy sits on the steps near the ice rink facing the park. I wouldn't have even noticed him if my son hadn't of run up to him. So if you see anything fishy, call 9-1-1 and try not to make it obvious, because he is a sneaky guy and gets away pretty fast. I want this guy off my street!! When I saw him look at my kids yesterday I wanted to throw up.
Today I saw an older couple going for a walk. While walking, they were picking up garbage on people's lawns and putting the garbage in plastic bags. How nice of them to care about their neighbourhood.
Every where you go, you can spot those who are suffering. Whether you're on your way to work or walking downtown to purchase some lunch, you come across someone less fortunate. It's easy to give up some spare change and continue going about your day. Or perhaps you're quick to judge, even if it's just thought inside your head. Well I'm here to explain what can really help.
Although it's easy to think negatively about the homeless and believe they are in that situation due to self inflicted mishaps, it's often deeper than that. Although addiction is an issue, that doesn't represent the whole percentage of homelessness. It could be a runaway child, a person who experienced a death of a sole provider or even a disability resulting in lack of job opportunities. Often are confused as to where to pick up the pieces and regain control. Well I'm looking to make a difference within our community for those who are experiencing difficulty.
I admit there are many resources for those in need of help. What I am wanting to do is create Care Packs that will have personal hygiene products inside (travel size), letters with community help agencies and resources inside, as well as motivational letters and quotes. I am not requesting money of any kind and encourage you to not give change to the homeless as well. Instead, donate it to the mission or purchase them a small meal. If you would like to help you can email, HelpHomelessWindsor@outlook.com. Items can be anything you see appropriate but not limited to, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, helpful agencies, etc. Also, if you have any warmer weathered clothing that you'd like to donate. All is welcomed and appreciated. Everyone has the potential at a happy and prosperous life. Some may just be stuck or unsure of how to do so. Let's come together and give assistance. Thank you.
