Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
To the woman driving the white mini-van and the gentleman driving the black charger (at Central Park Athletics) in the parking lot, you were BOTH wrong. I'm the driver from behind you both. To the woman driving the mini-van, you should never just stop in the driving lane. You weren't even at one of the main entrances. You did not put on a signal or your four-ways. How were the vehicles behind you to know what you were doing? To the man in the Charger, I know the stopped van was frustrating but you shouldn't have tried to pass in the parking lot of a place that runs activities for students during March Break. To the child, that swung open the back door of the van and jumped out with your sports bag, you were lucky!! You came very close to being seriously injured this morning.
Parents, if your child is able enough to attend 'sports camps', they are able to walk the extra 25 feet that would be required if the driver actually parked in a parking spot and then let the child out of the vehicle. NEVER just stop and let your kids out in front of traffic. To all drivers, please practice patience when driving, it's March Break. Kids are running everywhere and sadly, they don't always look where they are going.
Wow, can't believe this one, " More than 400 City of Windsor managers and non-union employees are getting retroactive pay hikes that will cost municipal taxpayers $2.4 million after a commissioned study found they were falling behind their counterparts in other Ontario cities." How on earth does Windsor even rate compared to municipalities like London, Chatham-Kent, Kitchener, Greater Sudbury, Thunder Bay, Brampton and Mississauga, and the regions of Halton, Niagara, Waterloo and Durham. I'm pretty sure they are doing much better financially than Windsor. And when I read this part, "He thinks only cities outside of the GTA should be used for future comparisons." Ohhhh did you include GTA in this comparison (commissioned study)??? I totally agree GTA has more qualified staff and should make more,we don't even compare!! GTA a whole different ballgame!!! City of Windsor managers, should manage Windsor before even considering taking more tax money from us!! Seriously, go to these other places, see what's actually being done...lots, mega changes!!! Look at what Windsor has to offer compared to some of those municipalities..NADA!!! But it's ok... our unemployment rate is high (including city workers from budget cuts), most of our roads are past due for repair ( not just from this winter Drew, just a continuous quick fill, every year!!), jobs are contracted out in many fields, many areas of dispute by many taxpayers,!!! It would be great if we (Windsor) were booming like many of those other cities, we are being deprived of what our tax dollars could really do for this city!! We are faaar from booming, not even a glimpse!!! Take Kitchener and Waterloo for instance, been there? growing like crazy!!! So many changes all over those municipalities, so upbeat, non stop changes in infrastructure all over!! You should be ashamed that Windsor taxpayer money goes to such petty stuff, like Christmas lights, fixing an ice cream train or whatever it will be?? How much true revenue did or will any of that bring into Windsor? Windsor needs to be competitive, not by giving retroactive wages!! When I read this...." Mayor Drew Dilkens said council was obligated by contract to carry out the non-union salary review and was taken aback when he saw the numbers in the report." Of course he was "taken aback", I'm sure all he could see were $$dollar signs$$, like a little kid reaching into a jar of special treats!!! How much more do we have to pay now??? I like many others are getting gouged enough and not seeing the any real benefits. We'd all be "taken aback" if we received retro payback for our wasted tax dollars!!! Just my opinion, everyone has one!!!
This goes out to all the people who donate blood. This week because of your donations you helped replenish what my father lost. Helping him heal. Thank you. Also to Metropolitan 5th floor staff you are all so amazing at what you do. Thank you for taking such great care of my dad. And answering all my crazy concerns. The Seguin / Dillon family
Ehen I was picking up KFC at the location on Tecumseh rd E by Rossini, it was packed. The girl taking orders on cash was so calm and friendly despite some of the rude customers and comments. Kara, I don't know you, but I just wanted to let you know that you are doing a great job!! You have been spotted and your manager should be proud to have an employee like you. You could have reacted and you chose not to. Great customer service!

Last night my 4 year old daughter went to bed with a slight cough and woke up a couple hours later with a barking cough, vomiting, shaking & restricted airway. We've never had a medical emergency and so this was quite scary for my husband and I. We called 911, as her breathing was very laboured, and Justin and Matt, the paramedics, came to the rescue. They were so wonderful with our daughter. What started as a scary situation turned into a really amazing and inspiring one for our little girl. So thank you, Justin & Matt, for being so light and fun and kind and gentle with our girl. She kept saying how much she loved the adventure with you two and the ambulance. She now has a plan to learn to drive, and go to school to learn to be a paramedic like Justin and Matt.
Today while shopping at the mall I decided to go to Starbucks to get myself a coffee. While waiting in line I witnessed such an amazing interaction with one of the employees with a deaf older gentleman. The young lady took her time chatting with this man even though there were about 50 people in the store. Her focus on this man and ensuring he got what he needed from the sweets area right down to the end of the line. What a kind gesture that made me feel that no matter what each person in this Starbucks is treated with compassion no matter how busy your store is. Thank you for making my day and I'm sure that older gentleman's day as well.
