Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
My husband regularly snow plows our driveway and most of the neighbour's driveways and sidewalks on our street and the entire street (because the snow plows never come down our side street) every time it snows. That alone is enough for a big wink. However, last night he went out and beyond just being a good neighbour. After the bulk of the snow hit Windsor large snow drifts started to form. One especially huge one always forms down the street from us at sandpoint beach. I left for the store and due to the conditions of the road and several vehicles stuck by the beach I had to go the long way home. When my husband asked what took so long and I explained about the people stuck in their cars he immidatley grabbed his snow blower and walked down the street with it and spent 3 and a half hours digging cars out and stayed and plowed the snow drift and riverside dr so know other cars would get stuck again. So very proud of this man and the values he teaches our children. We love you Bruce!
I have to give a big thank you to the fine folks at Rock Bottom! Yes, I braved our little blizzard in order to catch the Superbowl at a place that had the U.S. Feed (commercials you know). Well as it happened I was able to get a nice parking spot right in front of there place. The downside however; was after spending roughly 5 hours enjoying the game, some great food and drink it was time to go home only to be faced with the realization that the city snow plows had gone down
Sandwich a couple times and now my car was embedded with about a foot and a half of snow on all sides! I went back inside and asked if I could borrow there shovel to start digging out a bit. They were kind enough to offer me there's but moreover a couple other employees came out and lent a hand as well. I cannot thank you enough for all your help and generosity. It made the job go faster and helped me get home reasonably quickly (only to do more shoveling!)
It always nice to see to come across people how are willing to help :-)
Signed, A thankful guy!
Last night on my way home I needed gas, I stopped at the nearest gas station on Walker road. The parking lot was difficult to get through with my car but I was finally able to fuel up. Upon leaving, and because I have never been to this particular station, I missed all "no left turn" signs, and to my own embarrassment I attempted to turn left. Well there was a median in the middle of the road and I ended up ontop of the median almost bottoming out my car. I thought a tow truck would be the only answer.
As I walked back to the gas station to ask to use the phone, a good samaritan asked if I needed help, I told him I wasn't sure if we would be able to get it out, but it would he nice if we could try anyways. For the next 30-45 minutes we tried but with no success. The entire time we were trying more and more people took time out of thier nights (it was around 11pm) to help. I have never felt so grateful and proud of this city. There must have been 15 people helping. One of the guys who stopped had a tow cable, which we finaly used to pull my car out. There is still good left in this world and you guys truly warmed my heart. I cannot thank you enough. People stopped in horrible weather, very late at night to help me because of my own stupidity.
If any of you are reading this please comment or something so I can more personally thank you. I believe it was an esso, on Walker road infront of the beer store on Sunday night around 11pm.
Thank you Windsor.
Woke up to the plows plowing snow right up against our car, 4 feet of hard snow against it, thanks a lot to whoever plows our street. Maybe next time be a bit more careful and considerate of people's vehicles
Jenny Drouillard from Tutoring Solutions has been a blessing to our family. She consistently if developing individualized curriculum for my son and he is starting to love learning. Jenny truly feels like a part of our family and we would recommend her and her company to any family that is looking for a tutor to come in their home.
My boyfriend and I just moved here from Australia and were not fully prepared for what the Windsor winter would bring us. We just got a new (old) RWD car with terrible tires for the snow that we could barely get out of the driveway. Two kind men helped push the car all the way down the back alley when it got stuck multiple times. Our car got stuck on the street, and more people helped us as they walked by. It was freezing cold and windy with an icy snow, and these people stopped and took the time to help a complete stranger. Thank you, fellow Windsorites!
Big Thank -you to my neighbour on Holly cres. Last night I thought you were driving around in the snow for fun, and then I realized after driving around the block a few times, you were making tire tracks for us to drive through! THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for the kindness of strangers shown last night on the corner of Vimy and Parent when my daughters Avenger was stuck in the middle of the road. A very kind young man in a pickup truck stopped and helped tremendously (I am sure you had other plans), and from there it trickled to a couple other kind people helping out as well!! I hope the rest of your evening was fabulous as you really made our night so much better!! Thank you again so much!
