Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
Yesterday at the TMC building in Tecumseh the elevator wasn't working this young boy I heard someone say his name was Daniel leaving the clinic looked up and seen this elderly lady struggling to get down the stairs. He ran up the 2 flights of stairs to assist her down them which with a building full of older people (40-50) and staff was shocked a young man in his teens would stop and help after many passed by her on the stairs. He patiently helped her down each stair. Breath taking ! I think he deserves a shout out well done Daniel
I urge all drivers to remember that March Break is over and that kids are back to school. This morning my daughter was crossing Howard at Tecumseh with 4 other kids. There was a car turning right onto Tecumseh. The kids crossed with the Walk light, when the car turning right decided to actually pull forward. If not for his realizing at the last second that there were kids in front of him crossing the road and him applying the brake, there could have been 5 kids in the hospital this morning including my daughter. She was tapped by the car, and was unhurt but she did phone me because she was shaken up. She did not think to get a license plate number, but she said the guy was texting. Yes it is legal to turn right on a red light, however only if it is safe to do so.
PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SURROUNDINGS when you are driving. You have a 3 thousand pound vehicle against kids that weight in at less than 120 lbs. If you do not pay attention and you hit and injure someone you are at fault when the pedestrian is crossing on a crosswalk with the walk light. I don't think anyone wants to hurt a kid. I know I don't want my kid injured or killed by anyone. Driving is a privilege not a right. Take care out there and pay attention to what you are doing and put your damn phones down! Nothing is more important than a child's life!
A couple of months ago, my grandmother was involved in a car accident where she collided head-on into a tree. Although she wasn't injured severely, the accident left her with massive bruises across her chest and a totalled car. As she recalled the story of what took place to me the next day, I was completely taken aback and moved when she told me that after she had hit the tree and was pinned inside her car, a man had stopped his car off the busy road and immediately rushed out to her side. This man (who my grandma described to me as an angel) held her hand and comforted her while they waited for the ambulance to come. Now, I am not a very religious person, but it is people like this that make me believe that maybe angels really do exist. So to that man (who remained anonymous), I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being there for my grandmother to comfort her in a very scary situation. You have been spotted & lt;3
On wednesday March 18th I was on my way to pick up my daughter and head out of town for a March Break trip, when a stranger notified me that my tire was flat! I pulled over and was laying on the ground about to jack up my car when a very nice couple stopped to help me, They were just out for a stroll when they saw me in need of help. Without skipping a beat the husband jumped in and changed my tire for me! They were such a sweet couple and their help meant that I was not stranded for long. I was able to take my trip to Hamilton to see family with no further hiccups. Thank you Bill and Sue for being wonderful humans! We need more of you!
I was driving in the east end today and was stopped at stop sign. Saw a little boy maybe 4 yrs old having a great time driving a police themed power wheels on his front lawn while his dad (?) supervised.
Then to my surprise a Windsor police cruiser came driving down the street and stopped in front of the house. The officer got out of his car and went over to the little boy. He started talking to the boy and pointing at stuff on the boys "cruiser". His little face lit up like it was Christmas morning and he was smiling from ear to ear while the officer was talking to him.
This wonderful interaction by that caring officer who could've kept driving but chose to stop for a few mins, not only put a smile on my face but created a positive, happy memory for that little boy that will last a lifetime.
Kudos to you Officer.
Too many of you have been spotted texting while at a red light. The light turns green and your still sitting there until someone honks at you. Put your phones down people and DRIVE SAFE!
As walkerville high school and the family of Robert John BAXTER morn his loss one student had a little idea. This idea grew into something that gave comfort. Not knowing how others would respond, most adults where amazed he came up with bow ties for Baxter. Mr Baxter liked bow ties and ties. Thank you Dante for showing no matter who you are or how old you are you can make a difference...
Yesterday while at the Metro store on Central and Tecumseh...7:30 ish with my 8 year old boy. At the checkout I was putting our things on the counter and my son asked me for a dollar as usual, and I said no, as usual , he says yes you do and giggles and goes over to the candy machine . Behind me was a tall young man , maybe 20- 25 or so walks over to my son and hands him a toonie and as he's walking back towards me and says " I loved those machines when I was a kid!" With the biggest smiles on our faces we both thanked him and thanked him😀. I was smiling because i was in awe!! I hope this doesnt sound bad but this sort of thing happens to my kid alot!! Im not trying to boast but im floored every time this happens. This was the youngest person to do this for my son , Thank You Again! Your mom would be proud ! But I would also like to thank the other kind souls who have made our day doing these small acts of kindness , it sure gives us faith in human kindness. My son has issues that are not alway noticeable so this truly means so much to us ! Bless you all❤️
