I was walking to the bus stop after grocery shopping. I noticed a man walking in the opposite direction, he was holding a single white rose. I smiled because I thought, that rose will make someone very happy and feel special today. I also thought he was a gentleman for even thinking of it. As we came to pass each other he stopped and said something. I quickly removed my headphones. He said I looked familiar and asked about what school I went to. We realized we both spoke french and continued a quick little conversation... then he handed me the rose and turned to walk away. I said thank you and stood there stunned for a second with a smile on my face. I was right, it did make someone's day and made them feel very special. So to the gentleman, Thank you! You don't know how much I needed something like this. Roses are my favorite flower. I will be smiling for days.

Today I may have seen the most devastating thing. As my mom and I were arriving at the university and driving down University ave, we noticed a family of ducks crossing the road. It was the cutest thing, and I'd never seen that in person. The car in front of us stopped suddenly to allow the ducks to pass by, and slowly started to maneuver around them. But on the other side of the road, a speeding idiot, who had enough time to see the ducks, didn't slow one bit. My mother hocked the horn as hard as she could. Yet, they proceeded to run over the family leaving at least 4 babies killed, and the others panicking and tossed around by the sheer speed of the wheels. Us and the other cars in the line behind us were in shock. Mouths just wide open.
I can't believe someone could just do that and be ok with themselves and drive off. Even if you're in a hurry, does that mean you can just take the lives of the poor innocent wild life around you? You may be the biggest jerk I've ever encountered. I don't like to use the word "hate" but the driver of this car definitely deserved that title. Sometimes I just hate humans and their ignorance of the wild life that surrounds them.
A little late on this post but i want to thank the Windsor police with helping us during the SIHK parade. I know it was mothers day and you still all stood by the sun with big smiles. A special shout out goes to the young but very tall male officer by St.Clair Center of the Arts on Ferry street for his respect and going out of his way high fiving the little boys while walking by there. You waved to all of the members on the float and took your time to hear what i had to say about our culture. It made their days and mine as well and its truly a blessing knowing how supportive your system is. I wish i would have got your name to thank you after but you sir have been spotted.
Sincerely. A member of the SIHK committee
Warren's story.
For 29 years Warren has been my grandma's neighbor, and has been a big part of our family. He is always helping out the neighbourhood cutting grass, pulling weeds, taking out everyone's garbage and recycle bins, always on the go keeping the neighbour clean. If you knew Warren, he does not like change, he loves to buy collector items, He watches certain shows, likes to sing, and follows a strict routine every day. He is the most honest and caring person I know, and tomorrow is his 64th birthday. Yesterday he lost his house, The city took over because it wasn't safe for him to live in anymore, they are tearing it down and trying to put him in a home. Warren loves his Independence and his home. It may not have been a good home but it was his. I watched him cry yesterday and it broke my heart when they took him away. Today he tried to come back and get some of his things but was not allowed back in his home, because it was boarded-up and condemned. He left with nothing, Today he wanted to sing to us before he was once again taken away, and I find the song that he sang was perfect for him in his situation right now. I wanted to tell his story because he can't and I'm praying everything works out for him!
This story has gone viral in 24 hours with VIDEO. Including many people who remember Warren on the Facebook groups " you know your from Windsor" and " If you grew up on Drouillard" .Warrens Story continues...
I also used to know Warren when my mother was his neighbour almost 25 years ago. I can also say that Warren is a VERY nice man who loves his neighbourhood and his neighbours. He was always polite and helped cut grass and kept himself very busy. He is an eccentric happy guy who suffers from a bit of OCD, likes to collect things, along with some learning disabilities, possibly autism making it VERY hard for him to accept change or to loose the only home he has know for so many years!
Two days ago the city kicked Warren out of his home and boarded it up. TODAY is Warrens 64TH Birthday!
What can we ALL do to HELP Warren??
A big thank you to the woman I briefly spoke to in line at the Met Hospital Tim Horton's this morning. We were both approaching the line from a different side and I let her go first (it's the gentlemanly thing to do... plus as we joked, the longer I'm in line, the longer I was on a break). We had a pleasant conversation while the line moved a long and each went to a different register. As I was ordering my items, she graciously handed the person at the register money to pay for my order as well. The offer was much appreciated and made my day - thank you very much!
I was at Hotel Dieu with my son Tuesday for 13 hours ... THANK YOU to the ER and Acute Care ... Nurse Dave and Nurse Pauline !!! No details required - you were spotted!! You took extra time to chat with us despite all the upsets going on there ... Many thanks from the Mom with her son battling Chrones !! xo
