Hi everyone! A new organization called Actively Engaging Female Leaders partnered with a Windsor organization known as LAWS (Leadership Advancement for Women in Sport) will be hosting 7 female only physical activity events this summer that range from boxing, soccer, zumba and yoga! Our goal is to increase opportunity and participation for women and girls to engage in physical activity and learn about physical literacy! Our events are as follows;

Wednesday August 5th

Cost of each event will be a $5 donation! If you bring two children with you than we will give you a special offer! These sessions are directed towards elementary school aged girls for physical literacy testing purposes but are welcomed and encouraged to all ages of females!! I would like to thank the woman who switched me numbers in line at the TMC clinic this morning. My son, who is almost two, needed to get bloodwork done after a morning of allergy testing. When we walked in the lab, it was packed and she immediately offered me her number, putting me nine people ahead. So very thoughtful. I will definitely be paying it forward on her behalf. Thank you.

Welcome to the brand new Fire Station #2 at Chandler and Milloy. Construction was complete in early Spring and NO property maintenance has been done. Weeds are growing 3' high in some areas. Along Chandler, there is no sidewalk and people has to walk through this mess to get down the road. Wuth all of the controversy prior to building at this location, I thought that the City and the firefighters would be doing their part to be "good neighbours" as they claimed they would. It is sad to see this property being so neglected!

My mom was out on her bike today and she was almost hit by a lady on her cell phone (most likely texting!!!) at the intersection at Princess and Tecumseh road. Shame on this lady for being on her phone and then speeding off and not even taking the time to ask my mom if she was OK, just awful =( Thank you to the other drivers for yelling at this lady and asking my mom if she was Okay. Yesterday at 10pm I had a knock at my door. A woman who looked distraught and like she clearly needed help asked for gas money to get home because her mom is in ICU at Met Hospital and her car was on empty and she needed gas to get home. I live a couple blocks from Met Hospital in the South-Walkerville area.
She was out of breath and talking quickly saying her mom is very ill and needs help and begging me to give her money. I felt bad, and was also put on the spot because she was on my porch but at the same time her story did not make sense to me.
She had on a red pull over sweatshirt and jeans and glasses. Her hair was short and dirty blonde kind of curly.
She was medium build and about 5"6' tall and in about her mid-50's.
I went back into my house locked the door and grabbed 4 dollars all that I had on me. I grabbed my cell phone and keys, and through the window told her to wait on the sidewalk and not on my porch.
I went outside and gave her money but left it on the sidewalk infront of my house and told her not to come near me. Again I only gave her money because she knows where I live and didn't want her being upset with me or coming back and damaging my property.
I also told her that I thought it was extremely odd she'd come to my house which is two blocks away from the hospital to ask for money. Out of all the houses on the street she just came just to my house and parked in my neighbors driveway, where I park and parked right behind me. She kept telling me to come to her car and that she would show me her gas light is on. I told her that I was not interested and that the entire story was strange and she alarmed me. After that she left and I called the police to report it.
