You couldn't have known, that's why what you did meant so much.

Today I was out with my 2 daughters. I promised them ice cream after we finished cleaning the house. So we finished and left to McDonald's for a couple quick cones. I ordered 2 cones and pulled up to the window. As I went to pay the lady told me it was already paid for by the car in front of me. Now being a single mother is amazing and I make it work. Sometimes though things do get tough and you do what you can to manage things (expenses and trying to provide as much as you can for your kids). I'm not saying the cost of 2 cones was going to break me, but the fact that someone decided to make someone's day "just because" is amazing to me. Thank you. For so many things not just paying for the cones. Thank you for the look of shock on my girls face when they realized some random person paid for the ice cream. Thank you for the smile you put on my face. Thank you for being a great and kind human being.

So to the guy in the red Cherokee at the walker McDonald's drive thru around 2am, thank you. You have been spotted.

Was It Worth It...

From the backseat of my jeep came a fit of giggles from two sandy haired young boys. They are three and five and their whole world is ahead of them. My three year old loves construction trucks and the ability to say "NO" and my five year old curious as can be loves superheroes, lego, and asking "What if". We had just finished buying tomatoes at the new Mr Meat/ Jospehs Produce on Walker. It was a beautiful summer day as we had decided to go to McDonalds for ice cream. The light was green as we entered the intersection and had just turned yellow. You were blonde, quite young looking and had an older man in your passenger seat of your late model minivan. Half a second faster on my part and you would have hit us on the driver's side. Hard enough to injury or end the life of a brilliant five year old who starts SK in the fall. You may have injured or killed myself, their mom, their whole world. Driving on a hot summer day, I understand that as it is nice to get out and about yet think about your choices. The light was worth waiting for, as I slammed on my brakes to avoid being hit by you. I slammed on my brakes to spare my children the fate of meeting you and your late model mini van. I slammed on my brakes to avoid a hospital stay, to avoid picking out casket colours, to avoid the pain and heartache you would have caused. Driving may not be important to you, young, blonde, so full of life, but it is worth it to me. To be safe, responsible, and to think about the actions I do on the road and the consequences to those around me. You see, as you swerved hastily passed the vehicle which had the right of way. The lack of concern from the look on your face readily apparent on that summer afternoon. I noticed. I noticed that in the backseat of my vehicle sat my whole life conversing in a fit of giggles about ice cream in the hot summer sun. Think about them, the next time you careen through that yellow light, think about them as you nearly miss that red jeep.

VERY well mannered young man at Devonshire Mall on Wednesday afternoon

On Wednesday afternoon, around 3:30, I was outside Devonshire Mall, by Tim Hortons, sitting on a bench with my headphones on, listening to music to pass the time waiting for my husband. An older lady sat down beside me, and she and her 8 year old grandson were playing "soccer" with a small fooz soccer ball. I took off my headphones, as this was more entertaining than listening to music, and the young man asked me if I'd like to join, so I said sure! He was very polite, and stopping the game when there were people walking by. He also asked if I'd like to be his friend, and I said sure, and introduced myself to him and his grandma, he shook my hand. His mom came by with a snack for him, so he sat down with grandma and I, and mentioned to his grandma that he was thirsty, so I offered him my unopened water I had with me, he was very appreciatave and thanked me without being prompted to.

When my husband came to pick me up, Jordan (my new young friend), opened the car door for me, and gave me a hug goodbye.

If his mom or grandma Shannon is reading this, you've raised a VERY well mannered young man, you should be commended!
