Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
Yesterday morning around 10:30 I pulled up to what seemed to be an accident and a backup of cars, right on highway 3 and road 8. There was a silver/ grey jeep in the middle of the 2 lanes and two cars on each side of him stopped. There were 2 gentlemen that ran to the car. One was on the phone and the other was banging on the driver side window. I was about 4 cars behind so I pulled up on the side and got out to see if I could help. They gave me a signal that the guy was unconscious or non-responsive at the very least. I think he was having a heart attack, there was no accident. In the meantime the one guy had to break the back window to unlock the front door to attend to the man lying unconscious in the front seat. There was no one else in the car. We then pushed the car to the side of the road to get him out of danger from oncoming traffic. I tried directing traffic to move through in the meantime to avoid any pile up. The other two began CPR I jumped in because the one was on the phone with EMS and I told him I was trained so he was happy to let me take over. The guy remained in his seat I jumped in the passenger side and got on the chest right away. About 3 to 4 rounds of chest compressions while the other guy continued with breaths. Before I knew it paramedics were there and took over. It all happened so fast cops took our info and let us go as we were freezing and there was nothing else we could do. I was up all night wondering what had happened to this man and praying he was ok. I will reach out to the police this morning in hopes for an update but I m also asking if anyone has heard or read anything else on this gentleman s status. Thank you to everyone who was so caring and helpful in this scary situation.
I was driving west down Wyandotte St. East this morning around 8:20-8:30am. Once I got close to the intersection of Alymer and Wyandotte, cars were backed up quite a bit. Once the traffic cleared in the on-coming lane, I seen the reason for the traffic jam! A man had fallen out of his motorized scooter/ wheelchair onto the road, and the man that was at the front of intersection got out of his car to help this man back into his seat and pick up all his things that were on the road. Sir, whoever you are, I'm so glad to see that there are still some caring people in this world/ city. You have been spotted! :)
My husband and I were returning from Leamington yesterday evening when we stopped at the Petro Canada on Walker rd. (The one further out of the city). I had had minor surgery earlier that day. We stopped for gas. My husband went inside to pay as you do. The young man in front of him was also paying when he noticed that he had acquired a number of petro points (we're assuming that’s what it was). He was quite happy. He turned to my husband and asked him what his total was and my husband told him $35. He then turned to the clerk and stated he would pay for his gas too. My husband was in awe. He was so surprised and said thank you but couldn't express his true gratitude. The man turned and walks out. It happened too fast. When my husband got back into the car he told me what happened. I too was genuinely surprised. This had never happened before. This needed to be documented and this young man needs to know how appreciated his kindness was. We thank this kind stranger with our sincerest thanks. You made our night. You have renewed a little piece of faith in mankind in our minds. We hope you had a great night and continue on with your generous kindness. Now it’s our turn to pay it forward.

I went to my car after shopping. There was a young man next to me helping his daughter do up his seatbelt before driving off. I waited till he was done and when he turned around to get into the drivers seat he was surprised to see me standing there. He apologized to me for having to wait. I told him it was no problem I wasn't in a hurry. I got into my car and looked to see if he was pulling out and he had his window rolled down and was looking at me. I rolled down my window too to see what he wanted. All he did was smile and extend his hand to my window. In his hand was a beautiful rose. I took it and said thanks. He just drove off smiling.
I thought, wow that doesn't happen every day. I'm still smiling.
Spotted: Today my car spun into one of the huge ditches on Arner Townline and I was stuck in my car and unable to get out. I was in the ditch so deep you couldn't see the top of my car. Car after car drove by without any sign of help. After about 5-10 minutes of waiting frantically for my car to tip upside down into the three feet of ice water, a group of guys came and opened the side of my door, helped me out and up the hill and even carried my purse for me. The one gentleman let me wait in his car until my mom, the cops and a tow truck arrived. I owe you guys the world. I know one mans name was Matt C and he was with Windsor police. To the others I still can't thank you enough. You guys are true her is. Signed one terrified 18 year old girl
On Monday January 11th I went to the emergency room at hotel dieu around 5 pm it was busy and just kept getting busier and busier. I waited over an hour and half just to see the triage nurse! People were making comments about their speed and why someone gets to go in before them. I was called into triage the nurses were friendly and kept a smile regardless of the craziness! A family was in the back wondering why they needed to wait to see the Dr., well because that's why YOU came to a hospital! I was put in the back area and forgot about I waited patiently as my pain got more intense. I finally stood up walking toward the nurses and doctors. The Dr instantly asked who I was I said my name and he said he had been calling for me out front I was misplaced no biggy I work in the health care field I understand about working short! From that moment on the nurses and Dr took amazing care of me making sure my pain was tolerable! There was one nurse who really stuck out; she must have started around 7. She was running around doing everything for everyone including helping the Dr with something on the computer! She put my IV in and I became nauseous when too much blood came out she helped me breathe through it! I did not need for anything I was always taken care of! My only complaint I didn't get the name of the nurse (she has dark brown hair started at 7) and the Dr (he had black square glasses) who took such good care and who never seemed upset or complained of being short! You've been spotted for going above for giving warm smiles! With the announcement of 80 nurses losing their jobs I am saddened by our government we need more nurses! I only hope this reaches you both!
We bought the kids a cotton candy machine recently and we were looking for the sugar to make it, Steve the manager went above and beyond to look for the sugar for us.
When he checked out the product number and saw that he didn't have it in the store, he informes us of where to get it. Thank you for all of your help
Wow is all I have to say ... What an experience today...it's great to see so many people come to help in a time of need...
So today while at the gym, I was doing cable flys and a young man was doing dumbbell shoulder press right in front of me. In between my sets I was just watching. What I thought was him loosing control and pulling his shoulder out, was actually him in mid rep having a seizure. I ran over to him to help by making sure he was safe and timing it. Let's just say it was the longest 5 mins of my life. But I'm so glad to see so many people were there to help when someone was in need. Thank you to everyone at Fit 4 Less Central who were there around 1:30. I'm sure he was thankful too. Hope he's doing better tonight!!Xxxx
