Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
Hello,
Someone came into my dad's home and stole about 6-8 vintage superhero Barbie's that were for my 5 year old niece. The were all still in the
It original boxes. Please look out and contact me if you have witnessed anyone with or selling these. A police report has been filed.
The Barbie's include batgirl, superman etc.
Thank you so much!!!
To start my day off I was already having a bad morning. It's family day and my son's birthday but had to go to work. My son wasn't to happy about that.
When I saw you and 2 other EMS come in while I was sitting there trying to enjoy my coffee you smiled at me. Then everytime I looked up you'd smile at me again. Not only were you cute but had one hell of a smile on you :) You got me to smile and it made my day better.
I am just like you guys out on the road everyday saving lives or helping out people that need the help. I love my job and was upset I had to work today but after this morning for some reason it lifted my spirits up and realize that it's not so bad. My boys will understand why I work so much one day but as long as they are taken care of that's all that matters.
Thank you for making my day better :)
This afternoon my Mom and I were coming out of On the Dark Side on Tecumseh. As we were heading to my car, we saw 2 men helping out a guy in a power wheelchair. The wheelchair didn't have enough battery left to get him up curbs so he was stuck on the road. Thankfully, as a nurse I was aware how to go from the power to manual function...so we went over to give them a hand. Once we got him up on the side walk we were able to talk with the guy who we learned was "Rick". Rick told us that he lived in an assisted living home on St.Luke but they won't come to help. I asked Rick who he normally deals with to get rides to which he asked us if we could call Checker Cab because they are wheelchair accessible. I called him a cab then my mom and I stayed with him until it arrived. We talked with Rick and learned some things about him.
Once the cab arrived we could instantly tell that the driver was not very friendly. We helped the driver push the wheelchair up the ramp into the cab. I then said "bye Rick it was really nice meeting you". The cab driver instantly snapped at us and began to degrade us for calling him. We explained to him that we were trying to do something nice and we did not know Rick. He told us that he was driving him but would leave him at the curb, then told us next time call a medical transport company (not in an informative way, very rudely). We went to walk away and the driver starting yelling asking us who has money for the ride.
I was so angry.. once I got in my car I realized that I couldn't go home knowing he was going to be left at the curb, so I put Rick's address into my gps and drove there. Once we got there, sure enough Rick was at the curb and the cab was pulling away. My mom and I then helped him into the building. Thankfully Rick has ALSO support in his building. We talked to Rick about how rude rhe cab driver was to make sure that Rick was okay, but it didn't phase him...he said "well that's how it is", which saddens me because it's clear that he's used to being treated poorly.
At the end of all this, we are content knowing that Rick was warm and would make it to his apartment safe. So I'd like to spot the following people:
1) the two men that helped Rick when they saw him stuck on the road... you are truly amazing! If you ever come across a stuck power wheelchair I hope you remember about the manual function ;-)
2) the arrogant Checker Cab driver. Yes I understand you have rules amd liabilities (helping people from your cab to their door)..but your approach was unacceptable! I hope you never develop a mental health or physical disability where you will need the support of people!
3) my mom for helping Rick, keeping me calm when I became so angry at the cab driver, and going with the flow when I decided I needed to go to Rick's address
4) our Canadian health care system & ODSP for failing people with mental health and physical disabilities. Rick really needs a new wheelchair for his dignity, independence, safety, and impairments. Stop sending him in circles through the process!!!
To the handsome man who smiled at me twice today at Dollarama. Had I not been on my way to work, I would have tried to find an excuse to say hello. Instead, all I could do was smile back. I hope you have a great Valentine's day! Thanks for making me smile. I hope we run into each other again ;-)
(If by some stretch of Valentine's day luck, you get wind of this post....reply with the location and a distinguishing feature about yourself.)
Yesterday my Father, Daughter and Brother went shopping at Costco. On their way out, my Dad had a seizure. Many people helped. Workers and complete strangers. They made a terrible situation a bit easier.. from talking with my family, to blocking off the parking lot for the ambulance once again, thank you. You have all been spotted!
I normally wouldn't share something like this but I can't seem to let this one go. On February 6th sometime in the evening someone had enough nerve to do a hit and run leaving my friends new Ford Fusion damaged beyond belief, where his car was parked directly outside my friends house at 172 Giles. I would like the publics help to find this person who did such a terrible thing. It's one thing to hit someone's car, but another to leave this much damage and get away with this. Karma will get you!! So please help by sharing, Thank you so much
To the couple expecting their first baby,
Thank you so much for first, offering us your seat while waiting for a table, then insisting we be seated before you, and finally, for buying our Valentine's Day brunch. We greatly appreciate your generosity as well as giving us the chance to show our 1& 1/ 2 year old twins that there are amazing people in the world that make it a better place; and that sometimes it's small gestures that make the biggest impact.
Your baby is a lucky little person to have parents like you!
All the best in your future; enjoy the ride.
Sincerely,
Chad, Amy, Tanner & Karys
On February 13th, in between 9-10:30am,three of us had our wallets stolen on north service road near the Tim Hortons. If anyone has seen a plaid Burberry women's wallet that zips up completely, a black women's wallet or a snakeskin patterned Nine West wallet, can you please let me know? We know the money is likely gone but those wallets and some of the items in the wallet are really sentimental to us. I'm hoping that whoever took the wallet will have the good in their heart to at the very least return our wallet and cards.
