Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
A huge THANK YOU to basically all of Devonshire Mall. About a week ago, I brought a fairly large group of Chinese Exchange students to the mall to pick up some basics they had forgotten (toiletries, shoes, and the like). As this experience is totally new to them, everything took a bit longer than usual...some charades, some interesting translations, and some extra time needed.
I was worried the students would see impatient Canadians and have their experience tainted - however I am happy to report not only did no one around us complain, some were even jumping in with translation help, or directions to different stores in the mall!
Special shoutout to the lady at the information desk, who helped them highlight where they needed to go on their maps, our waitress at Moxies who was patient and helpful while we worked through currency and tipping, and the Starbucks employees in chapters! We were a confused cluster, but thanks to your help we were able to get what we needed for the students.

A man came to the door and wanted to come in and check our water main. He said they are checking the neighbourhood because of elevated water levels. He makes it sound like he is with the city but his badge says EcoGlobal and they try to sell you air conditioners and water heaters.
When I said that I wasnt letting him in he said,"if you think i am too scary then maybe i can come back when your husband is home".
I said that we don't let anyone in who we don't have a contract with and he again started spouting about the water and the danger...
That's when I just shut the door. But because he did not identify who he worked for or what he was really doing there, I could see someone letting him in thinking he was from the city or Enwin.
So be warned!
Today I had called Taras Natyshak's office to get some help. I am an O.D.S.P. receipent and have recently aquired a full time job that would help me get off of O.D.S.P. I had submitted a request to my case worker earlier this week asking for funding for safety boots and safety glasses. After not hearing anything from my case worker, I went in this morning and inquired about it. Not only did I get his answering machine AGAIN, the man at the counter ( which he was at the counter earlier on this week when i handed my request in) says to me, oh you need this form. Why wouldn't he say that to me earlier on this week when i brought the info in. I even brought a invoice in for the amount of safety shoes and glasses in. I need these items today or I will not be able to start this job come monday morning.
After I explained this to the MPP receptionist, she said that she will contact the office and do her best to get things covered. But here is the best part. The receptions from Taras Natyshak's office then asked me what size shoe I wore. So I proceeded to tell her, and that's when she laid it on me. She said Miss if I cant get anywhere today with the O.D.S.P office, I would like you to come to this office tomorrow , as I have a pair of safety boots at home that I am not using, I will bring them in and you can have them to start your new job on Monday.
As soon as she said that, I began to cry. This woman does not know me whatsoever and for her to tell me that she will give me a pair of safety boots for work so I can better my life, meant the world to me.
Random act of kindness and compassion from this woman , meant a lot to this girl over here. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your act of kindness will always stay with me and I will be sure to pay it foward. So THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! yOU HAVE BEEN SPOTTED :)
To the people (and doggy) in the black SUV in the drivethru line at Starbucks (Huron Church) on St Patrick's day at 9:00 pm: Thank you soooooo much!!! We pulled up to the window to learn that our drinks had been paid for. We were having a great day celebrating our daughter's 5th birthday and I thought things just couldn't be better. Thanks for the reminder that people, even strangers can be just genuinely nice in a fun way.
I was at the Starbucks by Manning road in Tecumseh and there was a girl with the longest most beautiful red hair I have ever seen in my life. I noticed she had a CIBC name tag so she probably worked at the branch across the street (I may be wrong but I think her name was Sarah) although it should be Ariel. Anyway she was very kind and I wanted to share this. There was a brand new employee who was clearly struggling and the other patrons were hassling her making shitty remarks about how long it was taking which just shook up the new employee even more. I wanted to say something so bad but didn't have the balls. Well let me tell you this Ariel girl DID!! She was cool about it too, when it was her turn she casually said "hey girl it's just coffee, no worries... You're doing an amazing job, have a great smile, and are super friendly and that's all that counts" the girl working almost cried and thanked her and offered to give "Ariel" her hot chocolate free. She said "oh no that's alright you don't have to do that, it's okay I just wanted to let you know you're doing great. Anyone can learn how to mix ingredients to make drinks but not many people have a great personality like you, and that can't be taught so was just giving you kudos, but thanks anyway" .... Needless to say I'm in love hahah
I was out doing some shopping this afternoon and there were so many kind Windsor residents out today! At Michael's, an employee helped me with a colour choice for some yarn, at Homesense, a spunky redhead gave me some opinions on some canvas paintings I was picking out, and in the parking lot, a lovely lady helped me with my trunk gate so the wind didn't knock it down. Thanks for the great afternoon, Windsor!
Thank you to the gentleman in front of me who spent so much at Value Village that it filled a discount card that he then turned around and gave to me. I got 30% off of my shopping.
That was very kind of you!
Also, he was buying lots and lots of shoes and putting them into a garbage bag so my assumption was that they were for a donation but I really should have asked because that in itself is an amazing gesture as well.
