Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
Tonight, March 17, I picked my daughter up from the mall at about 8:15 pm. The power went out at the mall and it was dark at the entrances. I waited where I could see the doors for my daughter to text me that her and her friend were coming out. Her friend got into her mom's car as I was coming around to pull up in front of my daughter. A van pulled up to my daughter and I pulled right in behind. The guy in the van opened his door and looked at her, she booked it and jumped in my car. She looked petrified. To that guy.......I hope it was a mistake...I hope you were there to pick up someone and thought my daughter was the person you were waiting for. All though, when you shut your door so quickly and tried to drive off so quickly... it made you seem very guilty. That is why I followed you and spent five minutes beside you, memorizing what you look like, you're vehicle, you're plates......the look of fear on your face......I really hope it was a mistake on your part....if it was a mistake, I am sorry for scaring you........ if you were thinking of doing something to my daughter..... you are lucky that this mom held her fury and decided to just memorize every feature I could...
Thank you to the generous lady we met in Walmart East Supercentre on Friday, March 17th @ 6:00ish. I was busy shopping for shoes for my three daughters when she approached us and was talking with my kids. She briefly shared stories with them and mentioned she came from a family of three girls too. My youngest daughter showed her the new shoes she picked out for school. She said they were lovely and surprisingly put a twenty dollar bill inside to pay for them. I respectfully thanked her and stated it was not necessary. She insisted and told me that she has come into money and wanted to pay it forward. She then unexpectedly gave my twin girls each $20 to spend on shoes too. My daughters gave the kind lady a hug and said thank you. Thank you for showing my daughters such remarkable kindness and generosity. We will continue to look for opportunities to pay it forward. Feeling blessed!
This afternoon, my in-laws took my family to the McDonald's restaurant on Dougall Ave. as part of a March Break outing. Suddenly, my youngest son, who has severe autism, became very overwhelmed by the busy surroundings and began to cry uncontrollably. We did get some unhappy or uncomfortable stares from people, but I want to focus on the people who showed understanding and kindness during this difficult time for my son.
First, to the lady who passed by on her way out the door, and gave me a sympathetic smile: Thank you. Even so simple a gesture made me feel less judged, and made me feel more encouraged to keep trying new outings with him.
Second, to the lady who came over to our table and talked to us: I thank you for trying to interact with my boy, and speaking so gently to him. I sensed you are a religious person, and although I am not religious myself, I appreciated your attempts to understand us and your offers of help. It was kind of you to offer my son a little religious medallion to hold. You also offered to watch my older son while I went out to check on my overwhelmed little boy who had to be taken to a quieter place by his grandpa. We had other family there to help, but this kind offer touched my heart.
Finally, to the McDonald's staff member who came and tried to help us have a happier experience: I did not expect that, and was so impressed at how above and beyond you went. You came and tried to soothe my very upset little guy. You offered him some toys, and then some ice cream. He ended up having to go outside, but you still brought 3 ice cream cones to our table, and I later brought one out for him and Grandpa to share. When we thanked you, you said you just wanted everyone to have a good experience at your restaurant. Thank you for showing such thoughtfulness. He did enjoy his ice cream (albeit out in the van), and his siblings got a nice treat, too. Thank you for making us feel welcome and accepted at your location.
Sometimes, it's very tough to bring our neurodiverse children out into a neurotypical world. I'm grateful that awareness and acceptance is growing. But really, something as simple as a kind look can make all the difference to us.
Thank you to the gentleman in the black coat that came to my rescue on Tuesday morning in the Devonshire parking lot. My car wouldn't start and you didn't hesitate to give me a jump. It was freezing cold out and super windy but you braved it all just to help me.
Thank you for helping me and saving me a small fortune in not having to call a tow truck.
PS turns out it was just a loose cable.
To the idiots who destroyed the park behind Princess Elizabeth school with their 4-wheelers last Sunday...you have been spotted. That park is a beautiful, peaceful place for people to enjoy walking their dogs, children playing, baseball games at the diamond, etc. and you morons tore it up while illegally riding your loud-as-hell 4-wheelers within city limits, disturbing anyone who happened to be there as well as the people who live there. I'm quite certain there are better places to go than a public park in a residential neighbourhood.
Had my purse stolen (black) with my passport, and kids ID, drivers license, wallet, and pink Samsung camera with many sentimental photos on it. Please help me locate it.
When I was out with my family and friends from Brantford all day I parked my car on the road infront of my house by the curb when we got back I notice there was a big dent on my car. I know you know you hit my car just admit it and be civil about it be accountable for what you did because your car has damage and has paint transfer from my car
I just wanted to acknowledge the wonderful lady in the gray Dodge Hemi at McDonalds on Monday morning.
I was having a crazy busy morning, I had been up and down all night with my 7 month old daughter and was exhausted. So I opted to just run through the drive thru and treat us to a McDonald's breakfast (and get a latte) since I ran out of time to make us breakfast at home; like a lot of 3 year olds my son takes forever to consume any meal.
To my surprise when I got to the window to pay, the lady working stated that the woman ahead of us had picked up our bill. It was almost a $17 order! Amazed, I thank you so much. What an amazing pick me up to my already hectic crazy day.
So, again, thank-you to the wonderful woman in the gray Dodge Hemi.
From one tired mommy, you've made my whole week!
