Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
Biking down Lincoln, I saw a white male mid-late 20s on what was clearly a young girl's bike. The bike was small, had a dark red/ burgendy colouring and a cheetah print seat. He was tall and skinny with stubble on his chin. Baggy blue shirt and black shorts. Baseball cap turned forward. Hope this helps someone.
My Dodge Caravan was badly keyed this week, on all 4 sides, so it was obviously a concentrated effort. The hood was especially heavily damaged. It would have happened either at City Market mid-day Wednesday or in my own driveway on Rivard Avenue. I've just submitted a police report, but was wondering if anyone else has been "keyed" this week?
On September 1, 2015 fines were increased for Ontario drivers. One of the new rules states that drivers are required to leave at least 100 metres while passing cyclists. I am not disagreeing with this rule and have always given cyclists room. However I believe that cyclists should take more responsiblity for their lives and follow the rules of the road.
I was drivng south down Matchette Road last night and noticed two cyclists on the right hand side. (Truthfully not sure how I saw them since they didn't have lights). The car in front of me proceeded to give them their space when it was safe to do so and got out of their way. The cyclists then immediately turned left in front of the car. That car was probably picking up a little speed to pass them and missed them by a few inches.
It is my opinion that the driver of the car was driving responsibly. If he/ she hit those cyclists the driver would probably have felt guilty even though it was clearly the cyclists fault.
I am thankful that the cyclists are OK and also thankful that the driver was paying attention.
Even though the law has changed, cyclists please pay attention.
Incident on Wednesday September 9, approx 9:15pm. Looking for the lady who followed me all the way down Normandy Rd in Lasalle to the the stop light at Malden and Normandy, flashing your brights off and on as well as getting out of your vehicle to approach mine at the stop light. I have no idea what was going on here, why you were flashing me and chasing me down or what your hand gestures meant while you were at my truck window. Please forgive me for not opening the window to hear or ask what you wanted. You see, some years back, I rolled down my window to help a lady with directions and I was carjacked, assaulted and robbed, left for nothing in the middle of the road. I would have left this incident alone if it weren't for the fact that you followed me all the way to my home. As soon as I pulled in my driveway, you sat and watch me then sped off. Now if this was a real emergency and my vehicle was in danger of some sort, or if I had done something wrong, I'm sure you would have pulled right in to tell me, or reported me to the Police. My husband and I checked over my truck, looking for broken lights, flat tires, brake lights not working etc and we found nothing. Still I have no clue what you wanted. If you are out there and reading this, please let me know what the heck was going on. Did I somehow cut you off not knowing? If so, I do apologize but I hardly warrant it a reason to hunt me down and flash your lights and actually get out of your car to yell at me. Confused!? In any case, good or bad, you've been Spotted.
Some people need to learn the difference between driving in a parking lot and the road. Today in the parking lot behind joes produce a ignorant man in a black jeep decided he should drive thru like he was on ec row as I slowly was turning out of parking lot and than proceeded to yell at me !! Really ? It's people like you that cause accidents slow down !!
Thank you to the driver who hit me on my bike today at 9:30pm as I was biking to work because he couldn't wait .1 second to get to the Timmies ( when I had the right of way).
This happened at the Tim Horton's on Lauzon and wyndotte, as I was passing the driveway he stopped waiting to turn into the driveway ( with no signal may I add) as i was about half way he decided to step on his accelerator and drive up and hit my right leg and my back tire, leaving me to have more then a few choice words and a flipped finger to him and his GF, and my leg was shaking. my adrenaline was shot. Not only did I have not 1 but 3 white lights on the front ( 1 big one and 2 small on each side, as well as a red flashing light for the back of my bike, but I even had on a safety vest to help allow drivers to see me. and still I got managed to get hit! really... (should of taken his plate down and stuff, but my adrenaline was shot and I had to get to work, I bike from forest glade to downtown)
I understand that drivers hate bikes driving on the road and I get it and people are impatient, its actually quiet sad if you ask me. I hear everyone complain about people riding bikes, and I get it, but bikers have to respect the law just as much as drivers. The law wants us to bike on the road in a bike path, but even that doesn't feel so safe for us. I couldn't even bike on the sidewalk clearly without getting hurt. I do get it, I got annoyed some days when I would drive to work and a biker would be on the road and not able to pass due to oncoming traffic, but I respected the biker as well slow down stayed far behind and passed when clear, bikers are just going where they need to go as well, why can't people respect that.
Driving down riverside drive I stuck to the sidewalks I'm sorry but I'm not taking a chance on my life or getting seriously hurt, but even sticking to the sidewalk, every driver coming out of the side roads tend not to care about the stop signs, not using common sense to look both ways before you go, I get it no one wants to do a complete stop, but even when they do a complete stop they don't take precaution to everything around them and could end up in some serious damage.
Needless to say I am okay, just frustrated and I hope that the driver has a dent in their car, kinda wanted to Hulk smash the hood of the car. =)
Drive safe and bike safe everyone, know that .1 sec of your time can save someone keep that in mind.
Consider this for a minute. Out of thin air, a person you have and will never meet decides to donate a Kidney to you to save you and your family. It is given Anonymously, but there is a way to communicate, if wanted. If you received this gift of life, would you want to send them a note to express your thoughts? I say this because I've heard nothing from them. It did everything I expected it would do for me, such as help me feel like a contributing member of society, and feeling like I'm earning my Disability payments. It's now a shame, as I only really need one, and I don't expect to hear from the next donation recipient.
To the father that was at Lilly kazillys on Saturday afternoon, you proceeded to yell, swear, at the staff because your daughter got stung by a bee. It's an outdoor patio, if you were concerned, take the kids inside, and to swear in public like that in front of your kids is disgusting. Grow up.
