Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
Hi. I don't know if you can help us or not.
On the evening of Nov. 20, 2015 a 23 year old man named Michael was involved in a serious ebike accident. He rear-ended a stopped car while going full speed. This was at the intersection of Wyandotte and Gladstone ave. The car had two women in it, and his black bike was wrecked. Sadly, it appeared so was his leg.
My friend Nicole Drouillard and I rushed to attend to him with any first aid we could offer until the paramedics and police arrived.
Both Nicole and I have often wondered how he is recovering.
I don't know if this can get to him, or someone that knows him, but he is still in our thoughts.
Sincerely,
Luci Kaye Lorteau
And
Nicole Drouillard
To the person who caused a three car accident on the expressway on-ramp east Sat 5:00 pm at devonshire mall. First, you made a dead stop on an the on ramp so you didn't hit a goose. Now as an animal lover I understand not wanting to hit the goose but it was less than a foot from the yellow line. You could have either slowed down or went around. You DON"T stop on an the on- ramp. Secondly, after stopping you watched in your mirror the accident you caused and then sped off as quickly as possible. Even though you cared more about the goose then people, don't worry no one was hurt (luckily) just thousands of dollars in damage. Maybe next time you could use your brain while driving and think of other people on the road (as well as geese)
You were all of 17 years old. You were able bodied. You left your girlfriend sitting in the car while it was running. Yes, the bank was busy, yes parking was bad, but YOU DID NOT NEED THAT HANDICAPPED SPOT. You didn't need it. Yet, there were you, parked on an angle because your time must have been too valuable today to park in a regular spot and walk a bit. My mom is handicapped, and if she were with me today, you could have got a lot more than me walking around your car looking for your permit. Then you have the nerve to point and laugh at me for calling you out? I sincerely hope you never have to endure what people who actually need those spots do. It's not funny, and it's not a joke. You were a lazy and inconsiderate, and you were definitely spotted.
I went to a walk in clinic tonight where people were very sick - to the point the doctor was wearing a mask while examining patients. My issue tonight was - the doctor didn't wash her hands upon entering my room for the exam. And when I asked her to do so, she got very defensive and tried to make me feel uncomfortable about asking. As a patient it's my right to request clean hands upon examination.
I feel we need regulations in place that require doctors to wash their hands in the room in front of the patient they are getting ready to examine. Until then - I just want to say don't be afraid to start asking doctors to wash their hands prior to touching you! It's your right to do so!!
To the person driving from LaSalle this morning around 6:00am. I was turning left from the Tim Hortons light on a GREEN light..you know the little white car that you almost smoked going at least 80km/ hr...what was your rush...what was so important that you felt the need to completely blow that RED light...were you so self absorbed that you didn't even see me?? You were one inch...I repeat one INCH away from seriously injuring me? Would whatever you were rushing for would have been worth it if you killed me?? Had I been a millisecond ahead you would have T-Boned me...is killing someone what it takes to open your eyes??? Cause I'll tell you mine were open and I've never been so scared in my life. You were driving a dark pick up truck...I drive a little Mazda..you would have won..my family and I would have lost. Tell me please what was so important that you ran that light...not a fresh light either as I was the third car in line..the two in front of me went straight...please tell me why my life means so little to you...what was so important..what's more important than another human being???
On February 17, somebody was spotted trying to get into cars in the 2500 block of Lloyd George.
2am Saturday morning our dog woke us up barking at the front door. My husband looked out our bedroom window and saw a man standing next to my car in our driveway looking at our house. We both ran to the front door and yelled at him, he just stood there and tried telling us he was lost, I told him cops were on their way and slammed the door. Who knows if he was trying to break in my car or our house. We live in the riverside area off of Cedarview, be careful...make sure everything is locked!
To the several people that always ask why aren't you in school or what no school today or make rude remarks when they see my kids and I out in public during the daytime, please stop. It is gotten to the point where cashiers will hound my children about why they're not in school. My children will not answer you. They have been taught that they don't have the answer strangers when they ask personal questions. They have been taught to say hello to strangers when said hello to, but not to go with strangers, to answer personal questions I went and out to ask mom or dad if they're allowed to talk to that person. We do that for their safety.
Just because you work in retail or are nosy customer does not give you the right to demand an answer out of my child. When I politely say to you they won't answer you because they've been instructed not to and you treat them poorly, it just goes to show your true character. It affirms to them why we should be careful who we talk to. Don't get me wrong, my kids are encouraged to be social people and are social people. They would likely tell you our whole life history in about 2.5 seconds but have been instructed not to.
It's pretty sad that adult can't see that they're being rude. Yet, my children ask me why that lady or why that man, was so rude. It happened again this morning. We got out to the deli to grab some lunch meat and instead of asking us directly, the lady snickered to the cashier behind our back what no school today and a snotty tone. I said nothing I just walked out of the store with my lunch meat. I say to you now, politely, it is none of your business. It is no one's business why my children are not in school, just like it's not my business why your not in children are in school, if they were not.
We homeschool our children. Sometimes, that includes outings. Sometimes, that includes visits to the park. Sometimes, that includes visits to the theater. Sometimes, and means leaving the house.
Please stop pressuring children to answer your curiosity. Truthfully, it is none of your business. To make children feel like they're doing something wrong when they aren't is an unfair pressure to put on a child. Try to remember that not every family fits the cookie cutter mold that society has put in place. There are thousands of families in Windsor Essex that homeschool.
Thank you.
