Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
I saw a cyclist cut cross three lanes of traffic in front of Tecumseh/ Dougall without looking. The cyclist struck a beige vehicle who had the right of way travelling straight down Dougall. Let this be a reminder to cyclists that they too are responsible for paying attention on the road! Drivers aren't always able to anticipate or see you when you're cutting across against several lanes of traffic. I am glad the driver of the vehicle was driving slow enough to compensate for your carelessness so that neither party was hurt.
Ontario Consumers and Summit Energy... New names, same old game...
Door knockers are back... These guys are from Ottawa..
I had 2 young men show up at my door tonight, polite enough... Wanted to upgrade my rental water heater, even after I told them several times that I owned my tank. Also trying to sell me on their hvac equipment , I asked to see their gas fitter tickets.. They are not certified, except as marketers trying to make a fast buck.
Be aware folks, if you didn't set up the appointment with a company you know, don't let these people in! You truly don't know who these door knockers are.
I need your help. Can you please share the hell out of this post! I need to find the person who did this and get my brothers bike back.
On March 28th,2016 I came home to find that someone had STOLEN my brothers bike off of my patio in the Ford/ Empress area. It's not just any bike. My brother Jared Mcknight, was murdered on May 31 2012. This bike was his life. He rode EVERYWHERE on this bike. If you saw Jared, you saw his hot green bike. It was even on display at his funeral. This photo is all I have of it, it's not the best photo but that bike is hard to miss!
Please help us get this bike back, it means more to us than you could ever imagine. There will be no questions asked, we just want it back.
If you have any information please PM Chelsea J Mayer on Facebook! Thank you so much.
Dear current home owners and Real Estate Agents,
Please stop selling our community to the GTA.
After spending the last year trying to find a house to buy in Windsor and losing countless times to buyers from the GTA I am more than frustrated and I'm sure many others are as well.
These GTA buyers put offers on homes in our community not because they're looking to build a future here, they're looking to build equity. They don't live in these homes, they rent them out or they stay vacant. And countless residents in your community, your neighbours, friends, and family are unable to afford to compete with these individuals and are therefore left with a home.
How many someone from the unemployment capital compete with someone from the GTA when purchasing a home? They can't.
So I ask you, when accepting offers from your homes, try to sell to someone who is interested in your house for a home for their future. Not someone who discovered how good our housing market is and decided to place unrealistic for Windsor offers on homes.
Now I do understand why they're doing it and why both the home owner and the realtor will accept these offers, they want to make more money, but in the long run with offers like this consistently buying out Windsor, you're hurting Windsor to make a buck more. Soon Windsor I'll be a community in which the people who live here won't own here. They'll be renting from people who don't even live in the same community.
Late this morning, I decided to take my almost 2 year old daughter and sister to the park to play. When we first arrived, there were 4 kids (no older than 16-17) on the playground rough housing and being inappropriate. We brought my daughter to the swings a little further away for a few minutes, thinking the teens would be considerate and maybe go somewhere else to hang out. Instead, they moved more central on the playground, throwing each other around, making out, innapropriately touching each other and swearing. I was not the only parent bothered by this and I WISH I had called the non emergency police to have them escorted elsewhere.
Let toddlers play on the playground that is rightfully theirs to play on and get back to school!!!!
Attention all. My daughter just witnessed a brown medium sized shaggy dog get hit by a car on Tecumseh Rd. Near George Ave. area. It was wearing a collar, so I assume it belongs to someone. Humane society was called..the dog was hurt but was running. Please share, hopefully the owners will be found. 😞
An article in the windsor star recently said how the city is seeing less skunk related phone calls and the city claims to have the problem "under control". I think all the cities skunks just came to Remington Park!! Almost every night of warm weather you can smell it, that horrible strong skunk spray. To anyone living in Remington, please please please deal with your skunk issue! Clean up any areas they could live, don't leave garbage lying around and call a company if you can't get rid of them! It's not just effecting you and your property, but everyone else who lives here too.
a Friend of mine lives in Belle River, got a phone call on his cell phone.
advising him to hire a lawyer, He was being audited for back taxes
owing for the last 5 years. The number was 613-909-0273.He said he
was calling on behalf of Canada Revenue Service. My friend actually
called that number back. The same man answered the phone!!!
My friend called the CRS office They told him Don't fall for this scam!
