Waiting for Windsor Transit Bus on evening of June 19th, 2016

I was downtown Windsor on the evening of Father's Day, June 19th, 2016. I stood waiting in the heat for a bus in front of the RBC Financial Group at the corner of Ouellette and Chatham Street for over an hour. I observed that there were no buses coming south to the terminal, therefore, I assumed that there were no buses going north. I started to walk towards the next bus stop to the north and noticed 2 police officers going into the Starbucks Coffee Shop. I went in and asked about the buses and they indicated that as far as they knew, the buses were still operating for the evening. I continued on my way to the next bus stop and joined 3 other senior women who had been waiting at the bus stop for over 2 hours. One elderly woman was in a wheelchair, another elderly woman had bad knees and was in a great deal of pain from sitting on the steel bench since just past 6:00 p.m. and it was now after 8:30 p.m. I chatted with all 3 women and they indicated that they hadn't heard anything about the buses stopping early for the night. I tried contacting the Windsor Transit Terminal but kept getting recordings that the offices were closed for the day, therefore, at 9:00 p.m., we all decided that there were no more buses coming. I also checked the Holiday Service and Father's Day is not listed as a holiday. The woman in the wheelchair quietly motored away, I'm not sure what happened to her. The elderly woman with the bad knees left and made her way slowly up the street. I hope she made it home ok. I was the lucky one, the 3rd woman called her son-in-law and he came from Forest Glade to pick both of us up. They were gracious enough to give me a ride home to the Walkerville area because, otherwise, I would have been stranded with no way home and no money for a cab. This kind of service by the Windsor Transit is not acceptable when dealing with senior citizens. We were hot, thirsty and without any kind of public transportation. This is thoroughly unacceptable service.

Grandma's garden girls stolen

Our neighbour had her cherished "Garden Girls" stolen from her front yard.
If anyone knows their whereabouts please respond to this post or simply return them, no questions asked.
These little pink garden sculptures are quite unique. If you've seen them pop up somewhere recently, then it is very likely they belong to her.

Man asking for county ride

On Sat May 21st I was walking into the home depot on the east end when a middle aged man sitting at the entrance asked me if I lived in the county and I said no. He then told me that his car broke down and he needed a ride. I just went on my way and forgot all about it. Last Saturday my husband and I were going into the same home depot an I remembered it and told him. He then reminded me that the same thing happened to him a few weeks before at the macs on Jefferson. A man asked if he lived in the county and then gave a story about how his car broke down and needed a ride out there. I didn't speak to him that time but I did see him and I remembered that it was the same man. Maybe it was innocent but it seems very creepy to me so I just want people to be cautious if this man approaches you.

LEFT THE SCENE OF ACCIDENT

To the deceitful man who rear-ended my daughter and her passenger Sunday evening May 29th. She was driving a silver 2004 silver corolla S. It happened at a 3 way stop on Lesperance just south of Gouin. After rear-ending her you got out quickly and said "there's no damage" and we're ready to leave without giving any information. You were in an extreme hurry!! All she was able to get out of you was a name and a number. Ken Sullivan 519- 735-5916. The name and number do not match so therefore, we're not your correct name and number. Just so you know there was more damage than you thought. You hit her so hard that the steel between the rear passenger and driver's side windows and the rear windshield buckled in on both sides of the car. Shame on you for not even asking if they were okay and for taking advantage of young ladies!!
You were driving a dark burgundy van. Possibly a late model Ford 2000 or 1999 model. It had a bug deflector on the front. You had front end damage that actually pushed up the hood of your car a bit. Your license plate starts with the letters BV. Her and her passenger were so nervous that that was all they were able to get.
You're 5 foot 8 to 5 foot 10. Roughly between 180 to 210 pounds. Salt and pepper hair. Tan complexion. You were wearing a button-down plaid shirt at the time.
By the way, thank God they're okay. It could have been a lot worse.

I would like to thank the young man in the black chrysler 300 who stopped to see if the girls were ok.
Please, if you witnessed this accident and have further information, contact Tecumseh OPP on Lesperance.

BE CAREFUL - AND KIND

Yesterday while heading home on Dominion attempting to get over into the turning lane for the ECROW I was witness to something quite disturbing. There was a younger gentleman, about 30 years old, attempting to enter the expressway going WEST....using the EASTBOUND ramp. I stopped as did another vehicle, and honked at him waving to try and get him to look at the sign. He was waiting for oncoming traffic, which quite possibly saved him from a fatal mistake. He was angry at us for honking at him, so he flipped us off. The gentleman in the other vehicle got out, walked in front of my vehicle, and advised him that the west bound lanes were up further.

He proceeded into the proper lane, ahead of us - without even a backwards glance. He was probably embarrassed for behaving so poorly.

Please people, when someone is honking at you on the road, please before following your first instinct and giving them a rude gesture, maybe take a look around yourself and see if there is a reason someone is trying to get your attention.

Broken Heart

My son goes to L.A.Desmarais grade school and had been watching a birds nest for a couple weeks. It had four eggs in the nest and now it has two. It's all he could talk about the school principal gave him special permission and he even had to wear a safety vest.He watched it before school, all the recesses, after school and on weekends. He was so excited for the birds to hatch and see them. When he came back home tonight he was so upset. I am so proud of the responsibility he has taken on and he stuck to it. But to see his face tonight after he got back home and someone just did that to him it breaks my heart. He now thinks it's his fault on what happened he said he should have been there more often. My husband and I tried to explain to him he can't be there all the time and he did his best. But he still blames himself. So to the person that took that happiness away from him I think karma will sort this one out for you.Thank you soo much for ruining my son's weekend.

People in the Division and Bliss Rd area should be aware there is a thief in the neighbourhood. Between May 13 -17 our shed was broken into and an orange coloured bike was stolen. If you know of someone who has a brand new bike with extra padded seat, lights on the front and back, as well as a chain lock with no key to open it, contact me, no questions asked. My son is a student that has worked hard to make the money to buy the bike. 519-890-7723
