Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
I was at giant tiger Off of Pillette Rd., Thursday, July 2. As I was walking in, a lady' was giving the young man at the door a hard time because somebody was in the store without a mask. He told her she had a medical condition. Her response was did she have a card? Shame on you for taking your frustration out on this young man who is just doing his job. I'm sure he's making no more than minimum wage. If you had an issue with this you should've asked to speak to the manager. It's not up to this young man to police and confront people. The sign on the door did not say mandatory masks. What is wrong with you? If you didn't like it maybe you should've just left. There is so much rudeness and disrespect in this city, that makes me sad. People need to relax and just be kind to one another.
Just to begin, I have never posted anything like this but today is the exception. Way to go Town of Lakeshore! Went to spend a beautiful day at Belle River beach and greeted by BEACH CLOSED signs. By-law officers and OPP were present and doing their job ( politely I may add). When I asked about the beach closing, I was told it was in response to overcrowding and a few misbehaving people not following the rules. COVID is real. Yes, I as much as anyone understands that. However, closing the very few recreational areas left available, not necessary. Then I say ticket or warn offenders, patrol the beach and punish the offenders at the time. Be proactive and take care of the problem at that time. Do not be reactive to those few who now have taken away the beach space for families, children, couples, friends etc... I sat on the grassy park section and watched many sad children being turned away crying not understanding why they had to leave. One child said I don't understand, we are staying far away from others, why do we have to leave? Brilliant...now how long will this recreation area be closed and more kids and families have to suffer for the actions of a few? This bureaucratic wise sweep reactive decision making is maddening and very disappointing for the town of Belle River. Then we were asked to leave the grassy park area away from the water to be surrounded by fencing. Wow, slight overkill there. Kids playing, throwing footballs, picnic lunches, sorry, closed!!! Fence up, how lovely. There are always those that won't follow rules, that is society. Deal with those few and let others have some minuscule sense of normalcy. Absolute shame on Lakeshore council 😡😡😡
This is where my parcel was left this week and my doorbell was not rung, fortunately no one took it but the courier sure made it easy if someone wanted to take it.
This is a porch pirate working in the Devonshire/ Remington Park area be on the lookout for your packages.
June 5th, I was sitting down at the riverfront by the Spirit of Windsor. I was approached by a police officer who asked if I had been near the washrooms at Festival Plaza (I have not). They had caught a person who had exposed himself to people. The problem is that none of the witnesses stuck around to identify him. So they had to release him as they couldn't verify it was him without being identified.
So be careful when going to the riverfront, especially with children.
On May 15th I unfortunately witnessed a Karen in her glory at the entrance of the east end Walmart. The worker at the entrance whose job was to sanitize the carts was approached by her. She was very rude from the start, asking him if the towel he was using to sanitize was sanitized itself. He assured her it was. She then grabbed his paper towel roll and got a new sheet, not believing he was doing his job correctly then went to grab his spray bottle to spray her cart by herself. He politely told her she couldn't take the spray bottle. She forcefully grabbed it anyway and sprayed the paper towel. I was honestly shocked at her behavior. By doing this she put everyone at the store at risk by touching all if it herself. The workers at Walmart and every other store are putting themselves at risk and also being very polite and I cant believe someone would act like that!!! Shame on you.
I was on Jefferson and there was a funeral going down Jefferson towards Tecumseh I stopped And waited for all the cars that have flags to go down the road yet there was people honking and people cutting in between the funeral goers. You are supposed to stop during a funeral to wait until all the cars that have flags to go. You're not supposed to cut in between them or drive it is a sign of respect and the law.
I am writing out of utter shock and disgust at the lack of concern shown last night in Lakeshore park. My elderly mother was out for a walk with her dog around 8pm last night, when she lost her footing on the side of the path and fell in the park. Into the mud, stones, and debris. Her dog pulled loose and she was terrified he would run away in fear, luckily he came right to her. What angers me, is the 6 or 7 people who walked right by her, saw that she was bleeding from her knees and hands, AND DID NOTHING!! Not one person, including the young couple who watched it happen, even so much as asked her if she was alright. No one helped her up, or asked if they could call someone to help . I am so disappointed in the people who chose to ignore her and keep walking by. What if that was YOUR mom??? I understand there is a virus at large, but for crying out loud, no one even acknowledged her while she sat there in the mud bleeding!!!! All I can say is this even has opened my eyes to how people can be!
