Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
Public service announcement.
I understand that it's the holiday season and traffic is heavier than usual. Please have patience and drive safe, and if someone is kind enough to let you merge, please wave as a thank you. I am constantly letting people in and getting no thanks. It takes a second to show appreciation. I'm ready to stop doing so if it isn't acknowledged anymore. We are all in a rush, but it's simple manners.
Last night when I went to turn on the fancy kaleidoscope christmas lightbulb my sister had excitedly purchased for our front porch on Erie Street West, I realized it was gone.
It was stolen.
Someone came up onto our porch during the night and stole our christmas light.
This might not seem like a big deal, but my sister and her family just moved back to Windsor after living in Calgary for the last 10 years. They came back to Windsor for a simple reason: they love it here.
They actually love it here. I'd like them to KEEP loving it here.
My nephew, who is turning 10 this year, is celebrating his first christmas in Windsor and I'm struggling to reassure him and his parents that Downtown is a fun, vibrant, and safe place to live when people are literally coming up to our doors and stealing our christmas decorations! I didn't think the common downtown "joke" of if "if you don't lock it, they will steal it" applied to lightbulbs. I'll be sure to lock the rest of mine up for safety.
(This is truly heinous and if you did it and you're reading this, I hope the bulb burns out on the first go!)
Please, if you're just some drunken idiot kid please bring back our christmas light. If your friend is a drunken idiot kid who stole a christmas light, make them return it. In general let's all, as downtown residents, look out for each other this holiday season. Incidents like this are what convince people to leave windsor, and they certainly do Downtown NO favours. Hold your friends and neighbours accountable so everyone can have a nice holiday.
Happy Holidays, Downtown Windsor, watch out for The Grinch.
At Wendy's this afternoon management held a meeting with an employee in the dining area. This man (I think was from head. Office) spoke very loud and had the employee in tears. We were only 2 tables away. On departure we stopped and told the man that it was terrible to do this to anyone and meetings should be held at the back. Also another guest also voiced his displeasure. Wendy's should change their policy .
Keep a watch for a person on smaller sized bike on College area near Felix and Brock. Monday at approximately 4:30pm. Stole two boxes from porch and raided my mailbox. Wearing a hooded two tone coat. Got you on two cameras and have given to police. You have ruined Christmas for my family. Return items and will withdraw any charges when you are found.
To whoever stole the Christmas Star shower light in the Lakeview Ave. area of Windsor last night, I hope you will enjoy it because now our 5 year old Granddaughter wont be able to !!
Dear lady in the bathroom at the mall today around 11 am shame on you! I was in there waiting for someone when a man and his son who looked about 7 came out of one of the stalls. I decided not to say anything because I assumed he thought it was the family washroom. You came out as he was washing his sons’ hands and he quickly realized it wasn't the family washroom but the Woman’s. You proceeded to yell at him for his mistake and then yell at me that it was my duty to tell him.
He made a mistake and was apologizing. He quickly exited after saying "sorry." You told me it was my fault and I should have told him to get out he was already walking out while you argued with me for 5 minutes over it.
What you didn't realize was his son had special needs. He was not a "creep" as you said he just walked into the wrong washroom with his son. I know that having worked with children who have special needs it is 10x harder on some parents to be their caregiver 24/ 7. I think you should have just taken his apology it's something that could have happened to anyone even you! It's not like he was in there taking pictures he was just trying to help his son.
Next time maybe think before you say something and yell at someone you never know what someone is going through. Thanks to the second lady who came out and apologized to me for her rudeness. I'm glad I stuck up for him and his son and I hope anyone reading this will stand up for those who can't stand up for themselves!
My son fell asleep on the way home in his car seat so I pulled into our driveway (in the alley) and decided to wait it out until he woke up. I reclined my chair and was browsing on my phone when all of a sudden a man came up on his bike in between my car and the fence (about a 2 foot space) and tried to open my car door. He must not have seen me in the car at first, he got spooked and started cursing and awkwardly scooted backwards than took off. It was around 2:00pm in broad daylight. He had a dead giveaway tattoo, a large set of red lips on his neck. If you see him poking around, be cautious.
On November 16th around 630 am someone had broke into my van(remington park area). How do I know ?
I went to go out around 11 am and noticed that my door wasn't fully shut..and then I couldn't find 2 of my Mastercard. I searched high and low. Finally around 4 pm PC financial called me because of odd transactions starting at 6:42 am.( I also thought this was awesome that they called me in regards to them)
So, to the person who stole them..you're welcome for the free money. I hope you used it wisely.
Also, thank you for not stealing my wallet with money and my life in it.
Friendly reminder to everyone else...it is that time of year, where people get desperate for a few extra bucks. Please make sure you lock your car doors!
