Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
We just went to city hall square, where we were verbally attacked by a disgruntled and Rude parking enforcement employee. There is construction there and it's hard to get through as it is all closed off, we had to turn around so we pulled into a driveway area where you can't clearly park. But you can't get through and traffic was busy. We have a truck and my husband didn't want to back up because people were walking and cars were coming and going so we had pulled into this space to turn around. We couldn't back out now because people were in the way yea u know you have to wait till it is clear. All of a sudden there was a parking enforcement guy just yelling at us. I mean extremely rude a little excessive actually you can clearly see we had reverse lights on and we were attempting to back up. He wasn't like you can't park here he was yelling just so you know I took a picture of your truck! You just won yourself a 110.00 fine for parking there. At first I was trying to be professional and explain the situation but he wasn't having it he continued to yell at us. I asked him what his name was and he was like you don't need to know my name!! If I ever see you here again I'm going to get you!! Get us how?? With the ticket? I feel like it was really threatening. My husband said it won't happen again we were just turning around and I told him there is no reason to be so mean about it and I asked his name because I feel threatened and I wanted to make a complaint. After that he was like your getting the ticket in the mail. Why couldn't we have It then??? So I definately have to make the complaint because I don't feel I should have to pay a 110.00 ticket for turning around??? I stopped to take a photo of the car he came from because there was a number on it. I would like to make a complaint. When I called an automated service comes on about having 0 tolerance for anyone who is yelling or mean or abusive. What about 0 tolerance for employees acting like that? I'm actually really up set and kinda scared because now this employee has all our information. It's hard to even explain how upset he was. I can understand if we parked there but we were really just trying to turn around. I took a photo of the car because he wouldn't give me any information and I figured it had a number on it that I could use that to complain. I just wanted to let people know there is a disgruntled employee working for parking enforcement and we as citizens shouldn't have to put up with that. They should have better training because their job can be stressful but they shouldn't be taking it out on the citizens.
To the family at Lakeshore Cinema at the 1pm showing of Sing today: shame on you. You acted like you were the only people in the mostly packed theatre today. Your son spent 20 minutes jumping up and down on the spot, another 20 minutes running up and down the aisles and stairs, and the remainder of the movie was spent talking loudly.
Now don't get me wrong, I get it. It's a kids movie, there's going to be some noise and interruptions.
One of the interruptions absolutely should NOT have been you (the mom) pulling your phone out in the middle of the movie to TAKE A VIDEO OF YOUR SON SHOWCASING HIS BAD BEHAVIOUR. I can honestly say pretty much everyone in that theatre today spent two hours gritting their teeth and watching you completely ignore your very distracting child and everyone else around you who paid money to enjoy that movie today.
I do hope you see this, and I do hope you think ahead next time you decide to take your son to the movies.
Can my child handle sitting still through a movie without greatly disturbing others?
If not, either wait until you can watch the movie in the comfort of your own home, or take a moment to pull your son aside and tell him he needs to respect the rules of the movie theatre (as do you, captain snapchat) and if he cannot then there will be consequences.
Shame on you for being totally oblivious to those around you.
To the individuals who told a young mom to quiet her baby during the stars and strollers showing at Cineplex yesterday, shame on you. The entire point of those shows is to allow mothers the chance to enjoy a movie and a chance to get out of the house while in the company of their babies. It is expected that babies may fuss. It is quite clear from the set up that these shows are designed for this purpose, from the lowered sound to the changing tables. If you were unhappy then perhaps you should have selected a different show to attend, instead of making a mom feel bad for being exactly where she was entitled to be. To the moms who were in attendance, I hope that you will not be discouraged from going again in the future.
Tonight January 8th. Someone decided to break into my daughter's home. In the "Parent avenue area" and stole money that is from the TRUE REFLECTIONS CHARITY. As well as a bunch of personal items such as her great grandmothers jewelry. And Her laptop. And he rode away on a bike he stashed a few houses away.. if someone you know all of a sudden has a bunch of cash or tries to sell you jewelry. Either let me know! Or call Windsor Police! Please and Thank You! Hopefully her security cameras caught him.
To the man in the WHITE TRUCK pulling a BLACK TRAILER this morning around 910am on central infront of timmies. You ran a red light either on purpose or you were not paying attention. I went through my green light and you flew by infront of me. When I hit my horn you looked at me like you could have cared less. I want you to know I had my 13 month old baby boy in the car with me and if I would have been 2 seconds ahead of time you probably would have killed us both. Please please pay attention and obey the rules of the road. What you did was so dangerous and so scary. I hope you see this and are more careful next time you drive.
Well this is not really a spotting, however some issues need to be put out there. I am 51 and have a friend that is 70, her husband is 88. Her husband is the kind of guy that you cannot keep still, does all his own home maintenance, repairs and even puts his own Christmas lights up, until his health took a turn on Christmas Day. She was informed of a program in the city called "Snow Angels". They are volunteers that help seniors and disabled people by shoveling the snow. I do know of this, my daughter volunteered years ago in her high school years. She thought she'd call to look into getting some help as she also has health issues, if I myself was capable I would definitely be glad to help out. I was absolutely stunned, she told me that they didn't qualify for the program because they did not have a city sidewalk. What the hell??Really??
So in other words, they I guess should only leave the house if there is no snow on the path or in the driveway?? How well do assisted walkers work through the snow? They are seniors for goodness sake...they have paid their dues and many, many years of taxes. To get shafted because they don't have a "city sidewalk"?? Hmm wonder how many feet of their property and driveway is actually city property? Go figure, we as home owners maintain a portion of city property every year. We don't volunteer, it's mandatory!!! I know, I have a ditch that is city property, my responsibility or pay a fine. So, where is justice when it comes to seniors needing a little help with snow removal? There has to be some compassion, it's a volunteer program...the city doesn't even pay these people!!! Those golden years...aren't so golden!!!
Every Christmas my family plays a Kris Kringle game where each of us spend $40.00 on a gift. This year I received McDonalds gift cards (it came with 4 cards attached to each other each with $10.00 on them). Mind you.. I thought this was weird that all 4 cards were attached to each other since I worked retail and know that each card should be scanned in order to activate them, but I went on with my night thinking if something was wrong with them I have the receipt and everything should be okay. The person who bought them found it odd how the employee was trying to activate them and double checked with him to see if they were okay. He assured her everything was okay and the cards were active. I went to go use 2 of the cards at a McDonalds and the cards were never activated. I was told to go back to the Walmart they were purchased at to get them activated which was the Walmart on Dougall Avenue. Yesterday I decided to wait 30 minutes at the Customer Service desk only for the employee to look at me like I was some sort of criminal when I asked her to activate my cards. She didn't really know what to do so she called for a Manager. The manager then asked for the package the cards came in. I advised her I did not receive a package, the cards were just stuck together which I found VERY odd and were wrapped in a christmas box with the receipt. The manager then told me that there is nothing they can do and to call the 1-866 number on the back of the cards. I call the 1-866 number only for them to tell me the cards were never activated and I need to go back to the Walmart to have them activate the cards since they were purchased there (common sense), but they gave me a McDonalds hotline number to call. I call the hotline number and they told me the same thing and directed me with a Walmart number to call. I call the THIRD number and they told me to send an email with pictures of the receipt, pictures of the back of the cards as well as the store number and a whole bunch of other crap and HOPEFULLY I would be able to go back to the Walmart once again to get them activated. Thankfully the person who purchased the cards knows the manager at the Walmart in Amherstburg and he is willing to activate the cards even though they were not purchased there. He will also be putting in a complaint about the Dougall Walmart. This really frustrated me because the Dougall Manager I spoke to should have at least called the 1-866 number on the cards to see for herself if they were ever activated to avoid this whole fiasco. The reason I am writing this is to warn people because I truly hope this does not happen to someone else. Please make sure when you purchase gift cards that EACH ONE is scanned through to be activated. I know they say to keep the receipt, but in this case does it even matter because I had the receipt and they still refused to activate the cards. Please be careful.
My 16 year old son went to Adventure Bay today for a little fun with a friend. Upon entering and paying admission, he went into the change room and changed and placed his clothing, bag, iPhone & wallet into a locker and secured it with a Dudley lock that he brought from home. After being there for 1 hour, he decided he wanted something to eat and went to his locker where he found that the lock had been CUT OFF with BOLT CUTTERS and was laying on the floor!!! His iPhone and wallet containing $13 and his student card were gone!! He contacted me and I immediately drove down there only to discover that his lock was not the only one that had been cut, but another had been as well! Adventure Bay did not contact the police when my son told them what had happened, but advised me that I was to go home and file a report with the police myself. The thing that bothers me the most is that someone may have been in the change room watching my son put his stuff in the locker, otherwise why cut that particular lock.
SCARY situation....the police have informed me that this is not the first time that this has happened there either!! My son is feeling so guilty, like it was his fault that the lock was cut off! I have told him there was nothing that he could have done, some people just don't care about other peoples things! The Manger wanted to offer me free passes, but I told her that we will never be returning and that I was reluctant to let him go in the first place!!
It's a sad state of affairs when someone steals from a kid....UNFORGIVABLE!
