Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
A couple of months ago, I was in Willistead park in the evening reading a book. I saw a man walking around by himself, glued to his phone. Every few minutes he would walk a few paces, stop and stare at his phone a bit longer. It seemed odd but I didn't think anything of it - until he began to follow me home. Thankfully, there were two security officers patrolling the park. When I explained the behaviour, they told me I was right to be suspicious and made sure I got home safely. Since then, I have never gone to the park in the evening by myself, but in the afternoon I tend to go for runs there. I have been noticing the same thing happening at all times of the day. It has never been the same man twice, but they're all exhibiting the same behaviour. Walking around by themselves, staring at their phone, hiding behind a tree, standing in odd places. Today, I went for a run around noon, another suspicious man in the park. My first lap around, he was blatantly gawking, second lap he seemed to have disappeared, third lap he came out from behind a tree and started walking in my direction from across the park all the while staring - my gut told me something wasn't right. That park is full of kids and teenagers, I called the police and they have informed me that they will have extra patrol in the area but if you see any suspicious activity like this, please report it.
Everyone has to deal with pests from time to time, one of the tenants in my building has a Squirrels problem. The tenant in my building came out on his 6 floor balcony to use his BBQ at 7 am, and found a squirrels nest in his BBQ, he obviously hasn't used his BBQ all summer. As I approached the building after walking my dog, I could hear the angry screams of a MOTHER SQUIRREL. then I heard a different scream, the sound of a baby squirrel being ripped out of his nest in the BBQ and dropped to the patio floor. I then witnessed the tenant with a broom lift the baby over the railing and sent the baby hurling to the pavement right next to me. I yelled up to stop, but they had disappeared. I went in to get a box to put the possibly dead baby in. When I came out to get the baby, I noticed he was not dead his eyes were not even open yet, and he was moving and breathing. So I put him in the box and left him near the fence and the trees where I believe I saw the moma squirrel go. Needless to say when I saw the tenant again on his balcony I asked him if he really needed to do that. Attempt to kill an innocent baby squirrel... he told me to mind my F$%king business and that the squirrel had destroyed his BBQ. I asked if there were any more he would like to throw down, and offered to come take them away myself, in a more humane way. Again was told to F$%king mind my own business. So I told the tenant what he did was wrong and that he should have left them be and called building management, or pest control, or the humane society. Things like this really make you wonder , "WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE"

I am so sorry.
I'm sorry I affected you in a way that made you unhappy. I'm sorry you didn't want to be my friend. I'm sorry you couldnt see past my friendly manner and outgoing personality to see that im actually a nice person. I'm sorry you thought about me for days after we met. I'm sorry you felt the urge to put me down and talk badly about me to others. I'm sorry I reminded you of "the girls you didn't like in high school". I'm sorry you think i'm "fake" and not "real". I want you to know that I don't hate you. I have no reason to hate you because I don't know what you must be going through to hate someone you don't know. I truly hope you felt better even for a moment at my expense. I hope you felt more beautiful, more important and more "real" as you say. But guess what! you haven't hurt me. I know who I am, and I love myself. I don't have to put others down to feel this way. I am full of love and strength and that is why I wont react to the things you've said, the rumours you've spread. I hold no anger towards you, i'll even say hello with a genuine smile because I know what you try so hard to hide from others. I know you are sad inside and I want you to know if you need a friend I'm here to listen.
Since the flood happened on Wednesday I've seen so many people driving up and down the street at night. They get out of their vehicles to look through what is at the curb. It's always after 11:00 p.m. You make yourselves look like vultures waiting to make a buck on the things people have lost!!
Hi there, I live in South Windsor and was one of many who were hit the hardest by the floods on Tuesday and Wednesday. We caught people going through our contaminated items and taking them. Please be careful what you buy on some of these facebook site's and kijiji cause there are people stealing from Windsor flooding victims. Picking out of the garbage bins and off the side of roads. They could be selling these items for there own gain. These items are contaminated with sewer and other things in the flood water.
As I'm lugging my flood damaged belongings to the curb yesterday some guy pulls up and starts looking at my stuff and asking how long it was in water, how deep ect. I even said to him, come on man you seriously going to be rummaging through my stuff at a time like this?!?! He took some wood and left. I was so appalled I put a sign on my pile no scavengers. So then last night arround 3 am and I hear some car doors closing, I look out and see his car driving away and things are now gone. I get it, I did leave wet musty, soon to be mouldy items that are obviously garbage to me now on my lawn. But have some compassion, it's hard enough dealing with all this mess and my belongs and memories are lost, without having people rumaging through for their own gain.
So last night I hauled all of our flood (Sewage water) stuff to the side of the road, it took hours of hard work to clean and bag up neatly for pick up, there where lots of soaking wet smelly clothes and some toys things like that. Well someone thought it was a good idea to rip those bags apart and take what they wanted and leave the rest for me to clean this morning. What the hell is wrong with people. Not just my house either, they went through all the people on my streets garbage and just threw it around trying to find stuff they wanted. I honestly hope these people get the plague from wearing contaminated clothing!! (Ok maybe I dont but I am so mad!!) Try to be considerate. We just had to clean up our belongings and toss them out, we have to pay to repair damage and now we all get to take the time to clean up another stinky mess. Watch what you buy from Kijiji people!! I have a feeling its going to be blowing up with "deals"
So Im sure everybody remembers the rainstorm the other day. I know my husband and two daughters sure do. Because we got caught in the worst of it. Our truck stalled in the middle of the lake that had formed on Dominion Boulevard, and we were sitting there for almost an hour, blocking traffic, with hungry kids (we had been on our way to get lunch). Now, I understand that its tough driving out in that weather. Its stressful. But you would not believe the number of large trucks that passed us by, who could have quickly and easily pulled us out, or even pushed us off to the side of the road so that traffic could get by a little easier. But no. Everybody was way too concerned with themselves to bother with a stranded family. Im just thankful my husband was with us, as he is the one with a cell phone. If I had been out driving, just me and the kids, that day, Im not sure what we would have done
