Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
I would just like to take this time to recognize an amazing woman who is celebrating her final day at the Windsor Police Service as of tomorrow, November 30th.
Patti Kelly of Windsor Police Victim Assistance Unit has helped countless victims and families in her over 40 year career with the Windsor Police. Words can't express how much she will be missed and how much of an impact that she had on the community, the police service, and all the individuals she's helped.
I sincerely hope that you enjoy your retirement and that you find peace knowing that you've made a tremendous impact on numerous lives.
I was at the Tim Hortons at Forest Glade Dr on Tuesday Nov 28th around midnight when i had the best service ever from the counter person. She was a wonderful woman, named Lexi and I have to say i usually get the worse grumpiest service when I frequent these places at night but this time i was greeted by the biggest smile and warm attitude, which is much appreciated after working 12 hour days. I wish more places were like this with exceptional people like this young woman.
Places like these fast service restaurants need more people like Lexi employed, as not only did she bring a smile to myself, she really seemed to enjoy what she was doing. I know midnights isn't for everyone especially in the food industry, so hopefully places can hire more people like Lexi as she definitely made my night.
Thank You Lexi, I'll be seeing more of you and i will be sending in my friends to see you and your warm smile.
4 years ago we had hit some really hard times. Lost the house, cars and had to move back in with my husband's parents until we got back on our feet. I was shopping at fresh co during that time one day and when I went to pay but my card was declined. I was a total mess and asked the cashier to hold my order so I can call my husband or the bank. My husband told me that we were in overdraft but he can run to the bank and make a quick deposit in the next 20 min. My husband was in Toronto picking up whatever work he could while we struggled to keep up with kids and living at his parents and trying to save where we can. As embarrassed as I was I waited until I noticed the 2 people behind me when I was in line were gone before I walked up to the cashier and told her I should be able to use my card in about 25 min. She smiled and said no need someone paid for my stuff. $76.19 was my total and that was for necessities like diapers, baby food, and some groceries to help out some for my in-laws house. The 2 people behind me both offered to pay the instant I walked away in tears. They each pitched in $50 and bought a gift card that the cashier was able to use to pay for my groceries leaving me with some extra credit. Well, I don’t think I can explain how horrible I felt because I never got a chance to thank them. Since then things have been good for my family and I and we like to remember the little things that mattered to us when times were rough and be thankful. I have donated 2 $100 prepaid visa cards to Spotted in Windsor to giveaway this month in hopes to show our appreciation. We are also looking for an organization that helps families in need in Windsor. We want to help out how we can to make sure we can at least help a family or 2.
Once again to those 2 angels behind me in line, thank you for showing me how awesome people can be with the amazing good deed you did. I want to urge everyone to do what they can to help those in need within your community throughout the year, but especially during this cold and rough season coming up. Thank you to Spotted in Windsor for helping me give back.
I thought my Christmas light weren't working looks like someone cut it with a knife who could possibly do something like this
Today my mother who is elderly was walking my white boxer. She walks Bailey daily around Ford Test Track. My mother talks to all the people on the track they stop and reminisce about there dogs. My mother stopped to talked to a couple with there dog , my mother let her off the leash they played and they ran off, everyone was looking for my dog, my poor distraught mother started to cry. She couldn't find my Bailey. In her desperation she went over to Fire Station #2 looking for my dog. They kindly asked her what was wrong as she was sobbing, she said I can't find my dog. They said we will help you look. They helped my mother look for my dog without question. You have to understand how much my dog means to my family, especially my mother. All she could think of was life without my baby girl. They were awesome, thoughtful, reassuring and made a difference. Thank you whoever you may be, you may not get enough credit but you deserve it. You are truly amazing people. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. She was found and we are all beside ourselves with joy.
Thank you to the gentleman in the black Cadillac at Tim Hortons this morning who paid for my coffee. I am moving from Windsor on Friday and it's little things like this that will make me miss Windsor. Merry Christmas to you sir.
Thank you to the kind person who returned the envelope my father lost at Sears the other day. You didn't know that he has been very ill and lost so much weight battling through cancer and chemo that he was trying on new winter coats to stay warm when it fell out of his pocket. You didn't know that the envelope was filled the cash that he took out to pay for Christmas presents. You didn't know that he was so upset and convinced it was gone.
Also, thank you to the employees who held it.
He received that envelope with every dollar inside.
You've all been spotted and reminded us all how much good there is in people.
In the area of Virginia Park and Cabana road I saw a German Shepherd puppy, maybe around 9 months old running down the street. I tried to catch it, but it was running too fast. It ran to Cabana Rd. then turned and headed towards the College, I couldn't see it after that. If anyone is missing their dog they should check the area of Northwood Public school/ St. Clair College, maybe even Roseland Golf Course
