Precious Memories

I live in Australia but I'm originally from Harrow. My mother wasn't well so we made a trip over in early August of this year and spent 5 weeks with her to get her back on her feet. Mom hadn't seen the riverside for years so we made a day of it. When we took my Mother and her partner around the riverside we took heaps of photos. Not just on our phones but on our camera as well and my mother was the type when she was ready to go she just got up and made tracks. She was a bit unsteady on her feet and was using a wheelie frame so we usually jumped up pretty quick to stay near her. While down at the flag we sat under a tree for a bit and well up we get and we're off. We got back to the car and this young fellow on a bicycle rides up to us and says "you forgot this miss" it was my camera loaded with heaps of precious memories.
When we left Amherstburg Mom was doing so well and was so happy that we made the trip over and that my sister came from Edmonton. Mom had her 2 girls together with her. Little did we know that this was the last time that it would happen. You see mom had a stroke and passed away peacefully with her siblings next to her.
So this young man has no idea just how special he is and I really wished I had gotten his name. We gave him a fridge magnet that says Cairns Australia and a couple maple candies.
Thank you young man we will forever be grateful for you!

Grateful for your help and kindness

I was driving on EC row Wednesday morning (September 26) in the pouring rain when I lost complete control of my SUV. I ended up on the other side of EC row in the left lane. Seconds after my car finally came to a stop a man came running towards me asking if I was ok. I was terrified and crying uncontrollably. The front of the car was stuck in the side of the median so he drove it out for me and then he proceeded to stop traffic so I can pull it over to the shoulder. He checked my car to make sure everything was ok and after giving me the ok he asked me if I live on a specific street. I looked at him a bit confused and before I could answer I found out he was the same guy that was doing construction in front of my parents house a few weeks earlier. My parent's driveway was blocked and I was very annoyed and impatient. It was maybe 35 degrees that day and my AC was not working, kids in the car and I just wanted to get inside. I should have been more kind and patient and realizing this was the same guy now going out of his way to help me I started crying even more and apologized to him. I'm usually the one giving construction workers water when they're working outside in the heat and I don't normally snap like this and I felt so incredibly bad. That day I went back outside to apologize and give them water but they were gone. And now here he was helping me in the pouring rain. He waited behind me until the road cleared so I can drive in front of him. And then I waived at him as I got off my exit. I managed to get his name. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, John. You are an incredibly kind and caring human being. You have no idea how grateful I am that you were there that day. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. Because of this I will be more patient and understanding. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I will never forget your help and kindness.

Driving on Dominion

Dominion especially closer to Cabana has become a Harzard once again. Several times since school began I have witnessed a number of close calls, or had them myself. Drivers do not seem to know the Rules of the road, or just don't care. IF you are in a lane with a parked car on the road YOU have to wait for oncoming traffic NOT try to squeeze between.
Coming around the BEND by Cabana speed limit slows down 30 I think FOR GOOD REASON. You can't see oncoming traffic, people turing into their driveways or the parked cars/ trucks that oncoming traffic has to go around them. Too many times I've witnessed mostly (young drivers, co ordinates with St. CLAIR yr beginning) behind the wheel of these speeding vehicles, having to slam on their brakes to avoid a collision, or see them lose control and swerve into the opposite lane or speeding down Dominion only to slam there brakes at the 4 way stop by Roselawn. Dominion is not as bad during the summer months. DOMINION is a two lane residential road not an expressway. There is no need to speed/ try to squeeze by parked vehicles.

Random act of Kindness

Thank you to Anthony in east Windsor who paid for my order at the goodwill industries thrift store on Thursday, September 27th. I'm a teacher and when he found out I was spending my own money and investing my own time to get materials for my classroom he paid for my order! He said tell your students there are still good people in this world like you and I! Thank you to Anthony- your act of kindness won't be forgotten and will be paid forward! I'll tell my students about your kindness tomorrow! They will appreciate the materials!

Id like to shout out to Mayor Drew Dilkens for taking the time out of his busy day to help a citizen in distress.

Mayor Dilkens was travelling on Sandwich Street in the west end by strickly fishing on the corner of sandwich and chippewa street when a gentleman had took a tumble on the road. The gentleman was an older fella who was suffering from exhaustion and heat stroke. Mayor Drew Dilkens assisted the man and stayed with a small group of people as he called for paramedics.

Its not everyday that we have people in our community that we see doing good acts.

Thanks again Drew

Waitress made my sons birthday dinner even better

I want to thank our waitress Michelle at red lobster wed night. We took our son out for his 10th birthday and she just made it extra special. She joked around with him and said if he didnt have a job he could do the dishes. She then came out with all the gear, gloves, hair net and apron. We all had a good laugh. She even brought him dessert with a candle and sang happy birthday to him. She was just great and went above and beyond. Thanks for making his night.

Flat Tire Spotter

To the gentleman who kept honking at me before I drove my car on the 401 thank you for letting me know how low the air in my tire was. I honestly didn't feel it as I drove. I immediately went to put air in it and discovered there was a nail right in the middle tread. You saved me from a possible blow out on the highway I have to drive every day. I really appreciate that you took the time to do that.
