Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
People are always texting, phoning and driving , going through red lights .
I saw a woman getting out of her car at a coffee shop off the Expressway recently and asked her if she was alright ( she looked teary and really upset) . She said she was driving , like she always does and talking on her cellphone , like she always does , checking her texting , like she always does. She was driving down the expressway and at the exit - the light had been red- a woman got out of her car and went to her . She told her that she saw her talking on her phone and checking her phone ( for texts) . She said she wanted to tell her off and tell her it was none of her business. She passes police all the time and never gets stopped. The other lady started crying and said because of people like her who cannot leave their phones alone while driving , her fiancee was killed the night before their Wedding- a guy went through the Red light and he was on the phone. The following day when there was a whole church full of people waiting for them , she was picking out a casket for her fiancee. She said she was going to stop driving altogether for a while cause it kills her EVERY time she sees a driver on the phone because to her, it means they have no regard for anyone but themselves and NO REGARD for HUMAN LIFE.
It seems that no matter how much is said about phones, texting and going through Red lights , reading in the paper that a young person died in an accident , or whole families getting killed, it just isn't stopping. I keep my cell phone in the trunk when I'm driving- if someone calls , I can check it when I'm not driving .
How high do the fines have to be ? How stiff do the penalties have to be?
Could you only imagine the revenue that would be mounting if more people were ticketed . Raising taxes would NEVER be an issue. Just ticketing people who think they are above the law and "high 5'ing " cause they keep getting away with it.
and if the lady on the expressway reads this - I'm so sorry for you loss.
Went for a walk at the river this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised by someone's random act of kindness :)
I think the pictures speak for themselves.
Today a lady and her family were shopping at the mall, when she took her daughter to the bath room she forgot her purse (phone wallett ids everything) went back and it was gone, so she tracked her IPhone and the phone had been tracked to near my mother inlaws house I had went over there to see what was going on and we helped her track it again, eventually after a long search in the cold we got half of her stuff back!
Signed a very happy family that are glad we could help your family! :)
Thank you to the kind woman who helped me at Walmart around 3:30 pm today. I was having some trouble standing in line while using my cane and trying to unload my items onto the conveyer. You asked me if it would be ok if you helped me. You proceeded to unload my cart onto the conveyer and you placed my purchases back into the cart ... Thank you so much for your kind gesture, you were a diamond in the rough today.
To the lady in Walmart on Tecumseh road around 6 tonight thank you so much for kind gesture. I was standing in line to cash out and realized I had left my bank card in my car. So I asked if i let you go ahead of me would you just watch my cart so I could run and grab it. As it turned out I had actually left in on my dresser at at home. I went back in as to let a employee know so they could put my items back for me and you chased me down offering to pay for what was in my cart. I didn't have much but couldn't allow you to do that.
I just wanted to say thank you for your kind heart! You made my night!!
So you have been spotted!!
Spotted: I am touched. I was walking through Wal-Mart this morning doing some regular shopping with my two daughters. As we were walking through the store I was having some random conversations with my kids. We were joking about how quickly we can shovel the snow if it snowed a lot this week. We talked about what I was going to make for dinner today and joked about how we pick the person who is going to have to do dishes. We played some I spy with my eye as we walked through the isles...just other random conversations as we typically do to make it fun while we shop. After we paid for our stuff and made our way towards the exit this man who was standing there with his 1 daughter stopped me and his daughter handed me an envelope. I asked what this was for and they said "it's a gift just because and we would like it if you accepted it. There is a note inside explaining why." His daughter asked if she could hug me and I said yes so she did and I felt such a warm hug. We said bye and went on our way. When I got into the car with my girls I opened this card up. It said "just listening to you talk to your daughters reminded me of my mother who I lost 2 years ago. I made my dad follow you around for a little so I can hear you guys talk because I wanted to pretend that it was my mom talking to me. Please accept this gift card of $20 just because you made our day. Have a great Sunday and thank you. I am in tears while I type this to submit it because I do not think you know what you have given me. You just assured me that I am a great mother even though sometimes every parent questions themselves. But, you also showed me how amazing people are in my city and how glad I am to be able to feel the hugs of my daughters. I am sorry you lost your mom at such a young age and I wish I had your contact information because I would love to take you for a coffee one day. If you do see this please email me gilligan7723@outlook.com. Share this if you could in hopes this girl sees it. There is no name or anything else in the card
Signed
A mother who was really touched
Thank you goes out to the man on the 1C around 7 this morning. Thank you so much for letting me know my wallet had fallen out of my pocket when I was about to get off the bus. This small act of kindness really made my day!
Just wanted to send a huge thanks to a very kind gentlemen "Mike" who helped to push me to the side of the road when my car died in the middle of Jefferson at South National. Also to the young couple who pulled over to help, sorry I didn't get your names. I just wanted you to know how much I appreciated all your help. Also thanks to the very nice police officer who sat behind me so I wouldn't get hit while waiting for the tow truck. She was really great. It was snowing quite heavily at the time and the situation was quite dangerous, it is wonderful to know that there are some great people out there. As to the man in the car behind me who could only honk his horn continually and scream and swear at me when it was obvious there was nothing I could do, I sincerely hope that you never find yourself in the situation I was in!
