Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
I wanted to thank everyone that helped my family when we needed to raise funds for my son! Because of all the wonderful people that donated Baby Jackson now has his helmet and has begun his journey to 're-shape his head. A special thank you to Derek Kozar, he is great at his job and explained so much to me. We now understand that Jackson has a significantly unproportioned head, he scored a 4 out of 5 for the severity of his condition (5 being the worst). He explained that Jackson's condtion affects his whole head, the position/ size of his ears, nasal cavaties, eye sockets, etc. Some insurance companies have come on board and realized these helmets are medically necessary to prevent future problems. I hope this continues and more companies cover the cost. Thank you so much for helping us help our son! We feel so blessed by the response of our community!

My wife and I live in the devonshire heights area and were always looking for a place to go to hangout, somewhere other than Starbucks and Tim Hortons. We also were looking for a place we could ride our bike to. We came across a quaint place on walker road, right next to Mom's Chicken. It is the perfect spot! About a 15 minute bike ride from where we live and has the lounge setting we were looking for. The food is great and well priced. It is run by a young couple and they are absolutely lovely people. Awesome service, awesome food/ drinks and definitely made this our go to spot. Just thought we'd share for others to enjoy :)
This morning as I was exiting the drive thru at the corner of Park Street and Goyeau I noticed the homeless man sitting on the corner with a sign. Everyone could clearly see this man was truly homeless and definitely in need of some aid. As I look through my wallet together all my change to give to him I suddenly saw a customs agent approach the man and give him Tim Hortons combo. Drink was an extra large and the meal also included a sandwich and donut. To the customs agent invite this man a meal and quickly headed back across the street to work you have been spotted! The world needs more kind hearted people like you! I hope somehow this finds you! Lots of good karma coming your way!
Today I was out with my 2 daughters. I promised them ice cream after we finished cleaning the house. So we finished and left to McDonald's for a couple quick cones. I ordered 2 cones and pulled up to the window. As I went to pay the lady told me it was already paid for by the car in front of me. Now being a single mother is amazing and I make it work. Sometimes though things do get tough and you do what you can to manage things (expenses and trying to provide as much as you can for your kids). I'm not saying the cost of 2 cones was going to break me, but the fact that someone decided to make someone's day "just because" is amazing to me. Thank you. For so many things not just paying for the cones. Thank you for the look of shock on my girls face when they realized some random person paid for the ice cream. Thank you for the smile you put on my face. Thank you for being a great and kind human being.
So to the guy in the red Cherokee at the walker McDonald's drive thru around 2am, thank you. You have been spotted.
I had an ultra sound today and had the most sensitive and caring medical person doing this. She made me feel comfortable and listened to what I was saying, she told me to have a nice weekend and was very genuine in a very sensitive situation.I'm sorry I didn't catch your name. This was at the Howard medical center and I can't thank you enough for making me so comfortable,I do remember you told me you were born at 28weeks in Africa thank you for caring and loving your job,it showed, well done.
Moving to Windsor in a month and would love to know some opinions on best veterinarians, insurance companies, sushi restaurants and tattoo shops!! please and thank you!! My husband and I are SO looking forward to moving!!!
On Wednesday afternoon, around 3:30, I was outside Devonshire Mall, by Tim Hortons, sitting on a bench with my headphones on, listening to music to pass the time waiting for my husband. An older lady sat down beside me, and she and her 8 year old grandson were playing "soccer" with a small fooz soccer ball. I took off my headphones, as this was more entertaining than listening to music, and the young man asked me if I'd like to join, so I said sure! He was very polite, and stopping the game when there were people walking by. He also asked if I'd like to be his friend, and I said sure, and introduced myself to him and his grandma, he shook my hand. His mom came by with a snack for him, so he sat down with grandma and I, and mentioned to his grandma that he was thirsty, so I offered him my unopened water I had with me, he was very appreciatave and thanked me without being prompted to.
When my husband came to pick me up, Jordan (my new young friend), opened the car door for me, and gave me a hug goodbye.
If his mom or grandma Shannon is reading this, you've raised a VERY well mannered young man, you should be commended!
