Hotel Dieu Hospital, saving my mum

On her birthday, Jan. 14th my beloved mother Shirley was taken by ambulance to emergency at Hotel Dieu Hospital. Thanks to the emergency staff, they discovered she had a perforated bowl which left undetected, would have ended her life. She was in so much pain and very afraid.
The people in emergency were so kind and caring to her and my family. They took the time to run the appropriate tests and explained what my mom was up against in detail. Mom was taken for emergency surgery within 5 hours of going to hospital.
I'd like to give a special shout out to the OR team who performed the life saving surgery and nurses Bobbi and Giovanna at the Intensive Care Unit for the amazing after care.
Thank you for saving my mother's life.

Dick @ Eastside Mario's

My wife and I were out for date night and decided on Eastside Mario's for dinner. Sarah had asked the waitress if it was table salt or sea salt in the shaker and not sure she went to ask her manager "Dick". The manager came up to our table personally and confirmed it was Sea salt (of course I knew that lol) then asked us if we like sea salt he has a bunch in the back he's getting rid of but wasn't sure what to do with them. After explaining to him how I work at the Downtown Mission of Windsor and if he ever has stuff from his restaurant he wants to get rid of we take donations, he went into the back and before we left he came out and gave us a box full of salt and pepper shakers to donate towards the Mission. To some this might not be much but to those in need it was plenty and we wanted to make sure you got the recognition you deserve for your selfless act Dick of Eastside Mario's in the Tecumseh mall Thank you so much!!!

Best day of my life

To Caiti, this lady is amazing! She gave away her wedding dress to someone for free and turns out it didn't fit her so she choose to give it to me. All the messages she received from her post on Facebook she chooses me!! I went to pick it up today and the dress fit me perfectly like it was meant for me!! I cried when I put it on. It is so amazing that she has done this for me. You are truly an angle to me and I will be thankful the rest of my life to you. I hope one day this huge gesture is returned to you, you are an amazing women and you will always be a part of my life and heart forever!!

Gentlemen In The White Ranger

Thank you very much to the gentlemen driving the white Ranger down tecumseh at walker last night. My car stalled in the middle of the road, and he thankfully stopped to give me a jump and followed me quite a ways to my destination. This man definitely deserves a pat on the back. I will be paying it forward !

Good Samaritan

Today my 67 year old mother lost her wallet while out grocery shopping around 4 p.m today. She realized it was lost around 6 p.m so we re-traced her steps to no avail. She had all of her identification, credit cards and a sum of cash. We reported it as lost and accepted the situation for what it was.
At 9:30 pm we receiced a knock at the door. A fine young gentlemen who works at family fruit market on mercer found it on the ground on the way into work. He returned it without so much as a dime missing. He refused any cash reward we tried to offer, and simply said " I just came to do the right thing tonight." We would just like to thank him for the goodness he has shown and share this story in the hopes that it reaches him. While he reads this, we hope he has a smile on his face knowing that we appreciate him and will continue to pay his act of kindness forward.

Little snowman

I want to say thank you to the girl who saw my daughters building a snowman yesterday. She made a little snowman friend for him and brought it over. It was a bright moment in an otherwise crappy day. Thank you for that genuinely nice gesture

Double kindness at Freshco

To the gentleman shopping at Freshco on Rivard and Tecumseh Thursday around 4pm!

Little things go a long way.
I ventured out to do some shopping with my 3 month old before picking my son up at daycare. My son screamed the entire way there. He's still too young to take out of the car seat and will scream in the stroller so I had to carry him in his seat. I first ran into you when I went to get a bag of milk and you grabbed one for me and made sure I could handle everything and the baby.
A bit later there were lines everywhere and I had my hands full. You noticed me, and told me to cut in front while you cleared your items to make room for mine.
They were such small gestures but it really means a lot when someone notices you struggling to carry things with a baby in your arms. You were so genuine and so laid back about helping it made my day!
So thank you sir!! :)

Thank You For Putting Our Mind At Ease

Both of my parents have heart conditions that will require surgery very soon. We have dealt with dozens of doctors, emergency room staff, and nurses over the last year that have been phenomenal. Nothing has been as helpful as the staff at Hotel Dieu who were there for us the day my mother had her angiogram.
Honestly, I have been in a panic about everything for months, since I found out about the extent of both of their health issues. In mid-December my mother had an angiogram at Hotel Dieu hospital, where I was by her bedside most of the day with my father, and with my sister between her busy work obligations. While every doctor, nurse, and member of the hospital staff was beyond helpful throughout the day (especially those that brought her the egg salad sandwich she craved all day), no one did more to put my mind at ease than her nurse in immediate recovery than Nurse Steve.
Not only did he do his job as a nurse in training in a new ward, he went above and beyond to calm us down. When my mother saw the tattoo sleeves he had, he patiently explained the significance of each part of the tattoo. He talked about his family, his life, his time adjusting to a new position in a new hospital, anything at all to keep our minds off of anything thy was troubling us about the months of surgery and recovery ahead. Mum spent days talking about how great he was with her, and told our family all about much he did to help her recover that day.
So a giant shout out to the staff at Hotel Dieu hospital, the doctors and nurses staffing the angiogram that day, and especially to Steve, who helped put my mind at ease about everything coming up for my family in the upcoming months.
