Train Station Gentlemen - Sunday Night

This past Sunday, Jan 25th I had returned from Toronto with my 15 month old by train - the last train of the day, arriving at 11:20pm. It was cold, my daughter is HUGE for her age (26lbs, and not yet walking) and my husband had walked 40 minutes to meet me and help us and our things (diaper bag, stroller, etc) into a cab.

As many know, cabs are in short supply at the train station and by the time we made it to the cab stand, they were all full, mostly university students, single riders... I was exhausted from having her in my arms for 5 hours, my husband had worked all day and so we grudgingly joined the queue for the next car. A few people had noticed us struggling as I had called to cab drivers to "Please radio for more cars, there are lots of us!".

When a single woman went to take the next cab, a group of men, much further back in the line called to her, "C'mon, be nice, let the lady with the kid go!" Which was quickly echoed by people in the line "yeah", and "have a heart!". I called out a thank you to everyone as she very reluctantly gave us the cab.

It sounds silly, but as someone who routinely lets others in front of me at the grocery store, or waves a car through ahead of me at an intersection, it felt wonderful to be recognized as someone needing help. When I put my little girl down tonight, I realized I have to thank those random guys who stuck up for my family last night. You all warmed my heart that my daughter gets to grow up in a town where humanity is still alive and well. And to the lady who had to wait a few more minutes, I do appreciate you putting yourself out, and for us, it meant a LOT.

I am posting this in the hopes that this specific woman will somehow see it. Tonight I was serving two tables at my work. One was a larger table and the other was an older man sitting by himself. One of the ladies from my bigger table paid for the older man's dinner, and unfortunately she left before I could tell her what he said to me. When I told him that someone had paid for his meal, he was so touched and couldn't believe it. He told me that he would "never forget this for a long time" and that he "knows there are good people out there". He then told me about how him and his wife used to go there to eat all the time, but she passed away from cancer a few years ago and he continues to go to the restaurant to relive it. I know this woman did this out of the goodness of her heart and not for recognition, but I really want her to know the impact it had on this man. So if you are reading this, you truly made him incredibly happy. You touched his heart and mine. Thank you!

Amazing people

Armando's on walker road! My husband and I were waiting for our dinner when he looked at me and said, I'm going to pass out! Being type 1 diabetic this happens when his sugar levels drop! He was very ill sweating shaking etc. The manager came over had girls bring soda glass after glass! A man sitting with his young family came over to assist as well! My husband just wanted to go home but was way to weak to even walk to our car!! This man, who turns out to be the managers cousin put his arm around my husband and walked us to our car telling me his friend is also type 1 ! It's very humiliating for anyone to have to be walked out of a pack restaurant like that! But the management and her cousin was nothing short of professional and caring I thank you from the bottom of our hearts!! As I was driving away she came out with our food we ordered and said please take this home on us so he can eat something when he feels better!! Classy act!! You have been spotted!!!

Hero Bus Driver

was on the 1A two days ago Jan 22) at about 6:15 with my husband. As we passed Firestone on Ouelette, I saw a little girl run into traffic. Our bus driver pulled over, and proceeded to chase this fast little girl halfway up the block, in oncoming traffic. He brought her back to the bus, all smiles, skipping alongside him. When she entered the bus we saw she had no shoes, coat, and non-verbal communicative.Police were called, and mum was looking for her special little one. She was returned, thanks to the quick thinking and even quicker footed driver. Thank you, sir, as a mum of a high needs child, what you did for that family can never adequately be put into words. Wish I knew your name, I'd sing it in praises.

Owners you can learn a lot and correct a lot of problems you may not be aware of. And people the next time your looking for a place to eat read on trip advisor . You will find out so much before spending your money there. or simply share your experience after dining out . Just thought I would share this.

Generous friends

I just want to take the time to spot my brother his wife and a few good friends of his. On January 10th they lost a close friend of theirs due to a tragic accident. My brother his wife and a few friends went above and beyond to help his family who live all the way in Nova Scotia by raising some money to be able to help them out financially to bring him back to Nova Scotia where he can be laid to rest also to help them with the cost of the funeral and with any extra proceeds to be used for his daughters education fund. During the time that my brother and his friends should be grieving they generously took the time to set up a gofundme account and to organize a huge fundraiser within a 2 week period. The love and respect that they all had for this friend of theirs shows so much through their actions and I know that his family appreciates what they are doing. I would also like to spot all the generous donations that they have received within the Windsor community...without any of them this fundraiser wouldn't be a success. So to my brother my sister in law and everyone else donating thier time and money you all have been spotted!!!
