Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Windsor
Good morning! I was out on a run this morning and I decided to take different route than usual. I came across a mom duck and 6 little fluffy babies crossing the street. The mom stopped in the middle of the road and I didn't understand why until I heard little chirps coming from the sewer. I looked in and one baby had fallen in. This immediately broke my heart! Mom ended up coming back over to the grass where I was.
At this point a man came from his front yard to see what was wrong. We both knew that the only way to open the sewer top was with a crowbar. He went in his garage to get one and another precious older couple was walking by so I told them about what was happening and we all decided we weren't going anywhere until this duck was saved! It was then when I saw a man from a landscaping company and I ran over to see if he could help too! He came over and at this point we had a crow bar. The landscaper (Stan) then pried open the top! The baby was frightened and kept going back into the sewer tunnel. Stan proceeded to lay on his stomach over the sewer as the couple and I held down his legs. After a few attempts, baby duck came up and Stan scooped him up onto the street!! The woman grabbed baby and ran her over to her mom and 6 other siblings. The family then waddled away and I was tearing up uncontrollably! Faith in Humanity restored!
I want to thank the gentleman with the crowbar, the lovely couple out on their walk and Stan from The Groundskeeper landscape company! You've all been spotted!! & lt;3 & lt;3 & lt;3
Left key in the door and they were taken. My key has a pink fur chain and a coin purse attached it has all of my ID in it everything that's valuable to me (I take medication so I need my ID). It was lost at Glengarry apartments if you have heard anything or seen anything please let me know. Thank you.
Monday's brief storm blew a large branch off the tree on City property at the end of my front lawn. I called 311 just after noon on my lunch break, & some amazing individuals had it chopped up & gone by 3pm. Shout out to these amazing people! Thanks for the speedy service!
We have had problems in the past with people undoing the side gate and letting our dog out. We bought a tight fitting chain with a C clamp and thought the problem was solved. Well today she got loose again. Someone had to open the gate and not redo it.
I guess she made it safely across Tecumseh Road and followed the Kennedy track team into the school. They put her in the teachers' lounge and took turns playing with her and feeding their lunches to her. When we arrived and it was time to leave, Jazzy did not want to come and sat at the doorway and wouldn't move. A caretaker had to carry her to the car.
They want us to bring their new mascot over anytime to visit. Thanks to the Kennedy students and staff for taking care of our dog for us.
Yesterday evening, I had to go into met for an emergency. The ambulance attendants were awesome, kept me calm, and did everything they could to make sure I kept my mind off of what was going on. They're an awesome team, and definitely made the night easier. Thank you again so much!
Want to give a huge shout out to the amazing school bus #30 driver for the safe trips to the Memorial Cup games throughout the week. You were fast and efficient and provided safe return trips for my sister and me amongst others. Thanks superman! Keep waving that Spits flag proudly!! Thanks again!!! Go Spits Go!!!!
I had emergency surgery Thursday night and I am a patient at WRH Met campus. After getting the go ahead for solid food, I walked slowly down to the Subway in the cafeteria around 6 pm. I was very happy to see someone behind the counter still serving people. It was a very nice young woman who was more than polite and was very pleasant to talk to while making my sandwich. It is always nice to see someone smile and treat customers in a friendly manner. But this young woman did a little extra. When I got back to my room, I saw she had wrote "get well soon 😊" on the package. My heart was already warmed by your kindness in doing your job well, but even more so with the thoughtful comment you took the time to write on the package. I wish I would have looked at your name tag, but I hope this acknowledgement gets back to you. Keep up the great work!
My husbands cell phone was stolen a while back from work was about 4 months ago. To our surprise we got a message request from this amazing person on Thursday May 26th saying he found the cell phone in the field by the old race way and wanted to let us know he has it and we are welcome to come pick it up.
We were shocked and taken back by how forth coming this young man was. Most people would have kept the cell phone as there was no lock on it so it could have easily been reset or jail broken.
So I want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH Michele Marini FOR YOU KIND HEART AND HONESITY. There are very few people in this world that would be so forth coming and return an iPhone we are grateful and very thankful that you were the person to find the cell phone. I hope nothing but good things come to you in your life as you have deserved all the good karma in the world.
So once again THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HAVING SUCH A GOOD HEART your parents raised an amazing young man.
You are truly a GOOD PERSON
