Silent Hero's

I am a nurse that works in acute care.

My neighbour is an (amazing) retired nurse who served her time and helped make nursing what it is today; a wonderful profession.

Her son has been staying with her for the past several weeks, ensuring his wonderful mother stays safe during these uncertain times.

They have both been so wonderful and grateful for my part during Covid 19 working in acute care (there has never been a time that I haven't been thanked by them), but I wanted to take a moment to thank all the nurses before us who paved the way and made nursing what it is today. Also, for all their families who are making sure that our hero's that wore the nursing caps prior to us are being taken care of the way they would have taken care of their patients.

So, to all the nurses who paved the way for us, and their families, I would like to thank you for all you have done and all you are doing. We are working the frontlines because of you and your families.

A special thank you to my wonderful neighbour Mrs. P and her son Mr. P (jr) for all their support and kind words!...there have been days that those kind words have meant more to me than you will ever know! Angels come in all shapes and forms, and I hope they know that they are my angels that have helped me during my most challenging of days.

Sincerely,

A grateful nurse

The Karen at Walmart

On May 15th I unfortunately witnessed a Karen in her glory at the entrance of the east end Walmart. The worker at the entrance whose job was to sanitize the carts was approached by her. She was very rude from the start, asking him if the towel he was using to sanitize was sanitized itself. He assured her it was. She then grabbed his paper towel roll and got a new sheet, not believing he was doing his job correctly then went to grab his spray bottle to spray her cart by herself. He politely told her she couldn't take the spray bottle. She forcefully grabbed it anyway and sprayed the paper towel. I was honestly shocked at her behavior. By doing this she put everyone at the store at risk by touching all if it herself. The workers at Walmart and every other store are putting themselves at risk and also being very polite and I cant believe someone would act like that!!! Shame on you.

Doctors working during pandemic

Want to give a huge shout out and thanks to Dr Nabil Asfour and his team for getting my husband in for a very necessary stress test during these uncertain times. No one was taking appointments for them due to Covid-19. My husband failed the stress test and one week later had quadruple bypass surgery. Had Dr Asfour and his team not agreed to take patients at this time, my husband would not be here today!! We cannot thank you enough!!

Respect Funeral

I was on Jefferson and there was a funeral going down Jefferson towards Tecumseh I stopped And waited for all the cars that have flags to go down the road yet there was people honking and people cutting in between the funeral goers. You are supposed to stop during a funeral to wait until all the cars that have flags to go. You're not supposed to cut in between them or drive it is a sign of respect and the law.

Made me smile

Spotted a bunch of cars going down Langlois Ave. Must have been a birthday party parade. They were all honking their horns and having a good time.

Thanks, might not have been meant for me but made me happy all the same.

Thank you!

My family and I would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the ICU at Hotel Dieu, for caring for my grandmother while she was there.
It was very difficult for my family to not be able to be with her as she passed, but it was comforting to know that she had such wonderful, caring people with her. I know that my grandmother appreciated that as well.
I can only imagine how busy, exhausted and stressed you all are during this pandemic, yet, you took the time to call and keep my family updated every step of the way. One of you even went as far as calling after she passed to give your condolences. I realize that you have a job to do when you go to work every day, but you all go above and beyond. That type of care should not go unnoticed.
Again, we thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your kindness and compassion.
Stay safe!
